Essay 2 Reflection
I learned in this essay to add section headers and to use Times New Roman since last
time I used Arial. What I learned in another class is how to do an annotated bibliography. I have
never written one before this essay, but I learned how to do it in Univ class. We are doing a
project on toxic masculinity and had write an annotated bibliography before we turned in our
project. I don’t think there was anything I learned in essay one that I didn’t apply to this essay.
Something from this essay that I can use in another class is writing without being biased.
I tend to be biased on my writing and sound as if I’m writing in a persuasive manner. In this
essay, I found a topic that didn’t have disputed facts so all the papers I read reinforced my own
essay. I don’t doubt that later in my school career I will need to be able to read papers and
present all the viewpoints given without choosing one specific one to latch on to as my main
I think I could also say that sometimes you should put your ideas and biases into your
essays. Its always good to be a versatile writer who can write in different formats and spaces.
So, I don’t think I’ll always use this format but it’s important to know. I can see myself not using
this form of writing where I stay unbiased and only present facts often and I don’t think I would

I thought the annotated bibliography was a little hard and time consuming, but it was
helpful when I had more sources. It helped me remember what parts of what articles I planned to
use and what each article was about. I think the essay helped me become a more unbiased writer
and able to write longer essays. In the future, if I’m writing an essays that has more than four
sources, I think I’ll probably use and annotated bibliography since it does help me stay
organized. I will also make sure to pace myself since in this essay I started too fast and burned
out halfway through. This caused me to stay up later finishing my work and rushing some drafts
of my essay.
I didn’t submit my essay for peer editing, but I think I still was having trouble with being
biased in my writing even though I tried to tone it down. I also think my writing strengths are
endurance, because once I stopped, I didn’t know what to write anymore. I think in my first
essay, I didn’t really have many weaknesses in my writing since it was a very basic essay.
I think that others would agree that I insert my own voice into my writing a little too
heavily and need to work on that. I also need to stay on track and create an easy-to-follow
transition from subtopic to subtopic in this essay. I think that overall, my essay was good, and it
was very interesting to write about, but again, I burnt out way too fast when writing it.

The most challenging part of this unit was staying indifferent in my writing. I tend to
write things that I feel very passionately about, so its hard for me to view it from a perspective
outside of mine.
