S Fire Administration
From: Precious Breeland
Subject: Routine Fire Drills

To Whom it May Concern,

It is very evident that fires can happen any place at any time. According to the U.S. Fire
Administration, each year from 2012 to 2014, an estimated 5,700 medical facility fires were
reported to fire departments in the United States. Though this number may not be significant, it is
still important that we take consideration because it is possible. I have been working for The
Key: Clear Care for nearly a year, and I have not seen any routine fire drills nor fire equipment
checks. In the case there is a fire in one of the facilities, what is the protocol for paitents? What
about the ones who are bed written? What do we do with the patients with Alzheimer’s or
Dementia? These are questions and concerns we need to address because in the case a fire
happens; we need a plan to be able to save as many patients as possible.wildfires are a very
concerning issue in the United States. With 58,950 wildfires being reported in 2020, and about
10.1 million acres being burned it is time this issue is acknowledged, with solutions to decrease
this catastrophe. From thorough research, I’ve discovered that your administration has
implemented a National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy, with the goals of fire
adapted communities, safe, effective, wildfire response, and resilient landscapes. These are all
great points, but with this program being created in 2009, and wildland fires continuing to
increase; these goals should be enhanced.

Our patients’ families put their trust in us to be sure that their parent, brother, sister, or friend is
in good hands at all times. So, by providing routine fire routines, we can ensure them that all
possible precautions have been taken to make sure their family member is safe. I suggest that
routine fire checks occur quarterly, just to ensure safety. With these medical facilities having so
many at risk patients, these fire drills should be thorough. In addition, fire training should be a
part of the training for new hires, as well as yearly fire drill trainings for all employees. Next
steps could include a meeting to discuss and planning fire drills, as well as plan trainings for new
and old caregivers.

I hope these suggestions will be taken into consideration for further discussion. In fact, I would
love to be a part of planning or conducting these trainings, or even just discussing further details.

Though we have a national concern of wildfires, California alone is the most wildfire-prone state
within the United States, accounting for about 31% of all acres burned due to wildland fires in
the U.S. In 2021 alone, over 9,000 individual wildfires burned across the state, ravishing nearly
2.23 million acres. To address this issue, I believe we can team up and tackle this issue with
some solutions I will discuss further.

With the wildland fires continuing to exponentially increase, I have proposed a few solutions to
put a stop to this crisis. I will be discussing three of these solutions. Firstly, reliable technology.
Having technologies that can disperse chemical retardants to prevent wildfire ignitions.
Secondly, using dead forest trees and plants as revenue. With fires being able to diffuse from
dead forest trees and plants, we should get these scraps out of the forests and turn it into revenue.
We can turn this into revenue by turning these parts into products such as paper and
accumulating a profit. Lastly, providing more funding to wildfire prevention. A large amount of
money goes towards putting out wildfires, but a new approach of funding wildfire prevention
would help. With this funding, we can restore forest, remove dead trees, and help wildlife
survive.

I look forward to discussing further details!
