Bogotá is the capital and the largest city in Colombia.

dish. It is a Colombian food so representative of Bogotá that in

You cannot leave Bogotá without trying the famous

banana) that contain a dough of cooked corn, bacon,

typical empanadas have meat, potatoes and spices, but

As a breakfast or a snack, this typical Bogotá food has
been sweetening the palates of Bogota for hundreds of
years. A thick chocolate made with sugar and flavored
with cinnamon. The most curious thing about this
typical drink is that they accompany it with cheese. The

One of the most common clothing accessories in
Bogotá has a peasant origin: ¨the ruana¨. They are

¨espadrilles¨, silver slippers woven mostly

Colombian culture that is particularly
popular in rural areas is the "Meeting of the
pot." This much-loved ritual encourages
Colombian families to gather by their local
river and share the traditional Colombian
dish: ¨sancocho¨.

rib with banana, potato, corn in the cone,
yucca, tomato and coriander, served with rice

The customs and traditions of the Colombian culture

typical Christmas traditions of Colombia include
eating natilla and buñuelos and attending the Novena
de Aguinaldos, when families gather to eat, sing
Christmas carols, and recite a series of prayers. The
novena is prayed and celebrated in a different house of

Christmas, in honor of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph,

¨THE MONSERRATE¨

The Cerro de Monserrate is the best known of the


eastern hills of Bogotá. Along with Guadalupe is one
of the tutelary hills of the city. Monserrate has an
altitude of 3,152 m and is located on the eastern
mountain range.

¨Chorro de Quevedo¨

The Chorro de Quevedo square is a public place in Bogotá.


In this place Gonzalo Jiménez, de Quesada established his
military garrison, before founding the city in this same
place in 1538. It is located on Calle 12B with Carrera 2, in
the historic center of the city.

¨El mercado de las pulgas en Usaquén¨

Located in the town of Usaquén, it is a great option

¨ The Botero Museum¨

The Botero Museum is located in La Candelaria, the historical


and cultural center of Bogotá. It houses a large collection of
works donated to Colombia by the artist Fernando Botero.

access to this important international art exhibition. It is
made up of 208 works, 123 by him and 85 by prominent
international artists.
