The MST (Mentor School Teacher) and the MCT (Mentor College Teacher) will use this form to formally observe the
trainee’s performance and to give formative feedback based on the selected teaching competencies.

Professional Dispositions
Strengths:
Wadha is a good student teacher, she follows the school rules, she attends every day, on time,
and taking responsibilities with the teacher inside and outside the classroom. In addition, Wadha is
being supportive when it’s related to preparing activities and she always takes part with the
teacher, for example, sitting with a group to explain the activity and guide them, and she supports
learners to learn better and achieve the given task successfully. Generally, Wadha is consistence on
the daily base.

Areas for improvement:

Planning for Teaching & Learning

Strengths:
At the beginning, Wadha discussed the learning outcomes of the lesson which was mainly
focus on science, additional of reviewing letters and sounds, and counting, which helped her to
plan for the lesson. According to the MOE schedule, English, Math and Science must be integrated
in one lesson, therefor, she planned her learning centers to reflect the three subjects. However, the
learning outcomes of the lesson are:
Science: Sort objects according to their different properties
Describe the properties of materials that enable the objects made from them to
perform their intended function.
Math: Counting to 100.
Counting by 10s.
Read, write and represent numbers up to 35.
English: Understand and follow oral directions.
Use emergent writing for a variety of purposes.
Use simple words to name people, objects and places.
(Note: The learning outcomes were written on the bored for students before she started her lesson)
Wadha prepared a PowerPoint presentation to start her circle time, the presentation
presented all the areas (morning message, calendar, weather, the learning outcomes … etc). After
that she will start with English by presenting the learning outcomes, sign the song of sounds and then
she will have a game that allow students to pronounce the word of each picture and identify the
initial sounds. Then, she will move to Math, and students here will have to count up to 100, then
counting by 10s to 100, after that she will present numbers, ask students to identify and present them
by using blocks. After Math, she will move to Science, she will present the learning outcomes, she will
talk about materials, in addition to present a real example of each so students have the opportunity
to practice the concept.
Centers were prepared before the lesson, in the focus group, Wadha prepared a basket of
different materials that will support students to know how they can be used and what are their
functions. In the writing center, students will have to write the letter Pp and the activity here is
differentiated, low students will have to write the letter only while the high students will write the
letter and few words. In the art center, students will make a peacock craft and there was a sample
prepared. In the Math center, there were two activities, presenting numbers by using the magnetic
board and writing missing numbers on cards. However, there were extra activities for those who will
finish early such as building the words or completing their Math booklets.

Areas for improvement:

One of the areas that Wadha needs to improve is to prepare for those students who learn at home,
because half of the class is attending the lesson by Teams. Teams was working at the beginning of
the class, students were welcomed, but as she started to introduce the lesson, students who are at
home were left a side and they were only listeners, till she was reminded and took the road again
with them and involved them in the lesson.

Managing Teaching & Learning

Strengths:
At the beginning of the lesson Wadha presented the classroom rules with students to remind them
how they are expected to be behave. Also, the PowerPoint she prepared presented the morning
routine for students, step by step, she started with the rules, calendar, checking weather, taking
attendance, presenting the learning outcomes of the lesson and the activities in centers.
Before sending students to centers, Wadha explained to them what they have to do in each
center, and then she started to call students by their names even though they are in groups. The
reason of calling them by their names is that the class has only 18 students and 8 of them are
learning from home, which reflected on how she can send them to centers. However, Wadha
prepared extra activities for those who finished early. When the center time finished, she played
(clean up) song to inform students that the time is finished, and they must clean up (Student spend
around 30 minutes in centers and this is the exact time for centers).

The learning environment was comfortable for the students, students were able to move smoothly
from the carpet to centers and to the outdoor area. In addition, it presented a variety of learning
styles which involved students to experience the concept in many ways. For example, recycling, in
science center students have to sort materials (real objects) according to their properties, while in
the focus table students will sort materials by using a variety of pictures, each student will hold a
basket (paper, cans, glass, etc) and they must sort the pictures according to their properties.

Wadha used many strategies for classroom management such as Class123 and traffic light strategy.
Class123 was used to reward students with points, for example, when they complete their work.
Traffic light was used when students misbehave.

However, the learning outcomes was presenteof the lesson to inform students what they will learn

Areas for improvement:

One of the areas that Wadha needs to improve is her time management. According to the
schedule, the circle time should be 25 minutes only, but Wadha took around 32 minutes. In
addition, Wadha needs to work more on her classroom management, because they were 2
students who misbehave in the carpet, and they were not being attention, even though Wadha
moved them to yellow but the two boys didn’t pay attention. What she needs to do is to stop the
lesson, warn them verbally and explain to them why they moved to yellow and remind the whole
class about the classroom rules.
Implementing Learning

Strengths:
Wadha followed the time according to the schedule. In circle time, she spent 32 minutes, spent
more time during the activity because she was giving them the opportunity and time to answer and
to be involved, even when the student gave the wrong answer, Wadha asked him to retry again till
her got it right. Later, on centers, students spent 30 minutes which was according to the plan, and
after the clean-up, Wadha spent around 10 minutes to review students work and she asked students
to evaluate their own work.

In the focus group, Wadha applied the cooperative learning. Each student has a basket that
represents a type of material (glass, paper, can, clothes … etc), and on the center of the table
there were a variety of materials. Students took turns to pick pictures and helped each other to sort
the materials.

Generally, Wadha applied student-centered teaching strategies, to review the previous lesson
Wadha presented a video made by students to explain how they can serve the earth. In addition,
in centers students were able to work on their activities independently, and at the end of the lesson,
students got the chance to evaluate their own work and their peers as well. However, Wadha
integrated the technology during the lesson, she used the compute and the data show to present
the lesson and students were actively integrated, also, in the computer center, students use the
computer and an Ipad to learn.

The differentiation took a part during this lesson. In the focus group, students have a worksheet
where they must sort materials, low students got 3 materials to sort (glass, paper, can), average
students got 4 materials (plastic, glass, paper, can), and high kids got 5 materials (glass, paper, can,
plastic, wood). Also, in the writing center, there were 3 different activities, low students have to write
the letter of the week, average students have to write the letter and few words, and high students
have to draw something start with the letter and writing a sentence.

Asking questions and involving students in discussions are strategies that Wadha used to engage
students during the lesson. Also, she motivated them verbally and giving them points in order to
encourage students to participate and be involved.

Areas for improvement:

As I mentioned before, Wadha needs to improve her time management in the class, and she should
spend 25 minutes only including the activity time on the carpet. Another thing that Wadha needs to
improve in is to apply differentiated activity during the circle time, she can try to add some
challenges for students so they can think more.
Assessing Learning

Strengths:
during the lesson, Wadha used the continuous assessment to evaluate students’ knowledge. She
wrote notes according to their performance and if they were able to complete the task successfully
with or without getting any support.

Asking questions and involving students in discussions are strategies that Wadha used to engage
students during the lesson. Also, she motivated them verbally and giving them points in order to
encourage them to participate and be involved.
In addition, at the end of lesson, Wadha allowed students to present their work, she mainly focused
on writing their names and date, additional to check their work. Students took part on this as well
and they were checking each other work.

Areas for improvement:

One of the areas that Wadha needs to improve is to give students feedback while there are
working on centers, to check if they are following the rules, their understanding and if they need any
help. In addition, at the end of the lesson when she gave them the feedback, she didn’t mention
how they can improve their performance for the next time. Giving students the feedback will clarify
to them how they must work in the future.
Reflection

Strengths:
After the lesson Wadha discussed the main points, how the circle time went, the centers and the
closing. She mentioned how she can improve some activities such as the peacock. She mentioned
how students interacted with her in her focus group, and how they completed the task given.

Areas for improvement:

One of the areas that Wadha needs to improve is to reflect on the lesson and discuss how she could
do differently in the future. After teaching a lesson one of the areas that will help Wadha to improve
her performance is to discuss what went well and what she could change next time. .
