-2.PK.3 Identify pictures to aid in comprehension.

2. Objectives:
SWBAT + Bloom’s verb
-Students will be able to comprehend objects to combine and separate.

-Students will be able to identify and sort information correctly.

-Students will be able to identify pictures to understand comprehension.

3. Materials/Equipment:
-Book Hansel and Gretel
-Crayons
-Markers
-Candy sorting worksheet
-Scissors
-Glue

4. Teaching:
A. Plan for reading the book:
-Before reading the book ask the students what they think the book is about by the front cover
and have heard of Hansel and Gretel before.

-Motivate the students to interact with the book before and during the reading even if it involves
questions.
-Answer any questions before reading

-Read the book


B. Plan for extension activity:
-After reading the book ask the students what personal connection they can make from the book.

-Then explain to students that the activity today will be combining and sorting information while
being able to understand it.

-Give instructions (Tell the students that they will color, then cut and paste the pictures in the
correct place.)

-Pass out materials

-Allow 30 minutes to complete activity

5. Closure:

-Allow the students to have the floor to share with the class and share how their sorting the candy
in the correct spot turned out.

-Ask the students, using concrete objects help them combine and understand where the candy
was supposed to be placed and the assignment.

-Gather all the students worksheets

-At the end of the assignment ask the students what in the book did they like the most that helped
them be able to sort the candy in the correct boxes. Ticket out the door:
Tell the children that we will be learning Jack and the Beanstalk. Then
later on in the week they will learn about red riding hood.
