2. Objectives:
SWBAT + Bloom’s verb
Students will be able to be more independent during today’s activity.
Students will be able to express their needs in an appropriate way.
Students will be able to sort similar objects
Students will be able to count to 10 by using familiar objects.
3. Materials/Equipment:
-Book The lion and the mouse
-Lion shape count form
-Pencil with eraser
-Crayons
4. Teaching:
A. Plan for reading the book
-Before reading the book ask the students if they have heard of a lion or mouse in their personal
life before reading.
Define lion and mouse
Lion definition-a large tawny-colored cat that lives in prides, found in Africa and northwestern
India. The male has a flowing shaggy mane and takes little part in hunting,
which is done cooperatively by the females.
Mouse definition-a small rodent that typically has a pointed snout, relatively large ears and eyes,
and a long tail.
Encourager students to interact during the reading
Read the book
Respond to any questions that the students have after we are done reading the book
B. Plan for extension activity:
-After reading the book ask them if they can make a personal connection like the lion and mouse
in the students personal life that they read by expressing their needs or wants.

-Give instructions to the students for the lion shape count for by having the the students identify
count the indicated shapes then have them write the corresponding number in the blank.

-Pass out materials

-Allow 25 minutes for activity

5. Closure:
-Before collecting everyone's forms, ask the children if anyone would like to express in an
appropriate way.

-Ask for their thoughts about today's worksheet and were they able to count the corresponding
objects.

-Collect the materials

-After wrapping ask the students were they able to make independent choices during today's
activities and sort corresponding objects while counting and writing them in the blank spot.
