- 1.PK.5 Demonstrate awareness that print carries a message.

-4.PK.1 Demonstrate and understand that printed material contains information


(e.g., illustrations, graphs, and charts).

-4.PK.7 With teacher assistance, follow, a simple pictorial direction.

-7.PK.1b Listen to and follow a two-step oral direction with the use of formal and
informal language.

2. Objectives:
SWBAT + Bloom’s verb
-Students will be able to identify direction and location.

-Students will be able to show awareness of print carrying a message while also
understanding printed material contains information.

-Students will be able to follow simple directions with teachers' assistance.

-Students will be able to listen and follow a two step oral direction with the use of
formal and informal language.

3. Materials/Equipment:
-Book Goldilocks and the three bears
-Maze worksheet
-Pencil

4. Teaching:
A. Plan for reading the book

-Before reading the book show the students the cover of the book
-Ask the students if they have heard of or read goldilocks and the three bears book
before.
-Respond to any questions that the students have before reading
-Read book

B. Plan for extension activity:


-After reading the book ask the students what they think the story in the book is and
demonstrate the understanding that printed material contains information.
-Give instructions to the students by having them listen to 2 step instructions and
identification of direction of up down and left and right.
-Pass out materials
-Allow 20 minutes for activity

5. Closure:

-Before collecting students activity ask the students if they would like to share what
directions are in the maze worksheet.
-Ask the students what they learned from the activity and what they did not know before
today.

-Collect materials

-After wrapping up the activity ask the students what in the the two step instructions
helped them understand the direction to take in the activity with the
teacher. At the end the ticket out of the door tells the children that
they will be learning about the three little pigs. Then later on in the
week they will learn more about rapunzel.
