Research question: What factors affect delivery time for Butler Trucking Company?

Research method: Quantitative and Qualitative methods

Theoretical definition
1. Cargo transportation
Transportation is an essential need of economic development aimed at changing the location of goods
and people from one place to another using transportation. In the commercial business, freight
transport plays a particularly important role (Phạm Thị, 2021).
When it comes to commerce, it must be said to transport goods, commerce is to change the owner of
goods, and transport to change the location of goods.
Similarly, cargo delivery plays a significant part in the distribution and transportation of products. If
the financial system is viewed as a living creature, with the transport system serving as its blood, then
shipping is the act of delivering energy to the body of that living body. The introduction of freight
services is becoming increasingly crucial.
The following shipping methods are available:
Road
Rail transport
Waterway (sea transportation, inland waterway)
Airfreight
2. Role
The transfer of items from one site to the other by labour or methods of conveyance to accomplish
commercial functions such as purchasing - distributing, warehousing, inventory in the design and
manufacturing - commerce is referred to as transportation in logistics.
The gap in distance - time between both the production process and the place where sales are made
creates the need for cargo movement in the industry. The transportation cost rises in tandem with the
growth of economy like a result of the change of producers and consumers.
Shipping of products is an essential component of enterprise logistics; transportation operations
operate as a rope linking production businesses with commercial enterprises in a variety of places. The
delivery procedure enhances the value of the goods in the supply network rather than the volume.
Transportation is one of the three important contents of logistics in enterprises that have a direct impact
on the costs and competitiveness of enterprises.
3. Characteristics of freight
According to Phạm Thị Ngọc Lan, Cargo transportation is a service industry, so unlike manufactured
products, freight transportation has the following basic characteristics:
Shipping is a providing technical, meaning it cannot be viewed, heard, or handled prior to purchase.
Buyers have no way of knowing whether their items will arrive on time or in excellent condition until
they receive them.
The demand for transportation is not stable and often fluctuates due to the demand during peak periods
(shopping peaks, Tet...). Logistics companies are often overloaded and have to mobilize a large
transport team to meet customer demand. In the off-peak period, the transportation demand is low,
making operation, maintenance, and asset depreciation costs large, so to ensure the stability of the
transportation service, we should choose a reputable - quality service. and received many good reviews
from previous customers.
Cargo transportation service for goods purchase and sale activities. In this process, there are many
people involved, common include:
Buyer: the person who buys goods in a commercial contract.
Seller: the person who sells goods in a commercial contract.
Consignor: the person who sends the goods, signs a contract of carriage with the freight forwarder.
Consignee: the person who has the right to receive the goods.
Shipper: an intermediary between the buyer and the seller. The shipper can also be developed by the
company providing the goods or it can be outsourced to the service. To put it simply, the shipper is the
person who delivers the goods.
Carrier: transfers the items from the shipping area to the place of reception in accordance with the
negotiable instrument.
Cargo forwarder: an operator who organizes delivery on the shipper's behalf under the agreement with
the carriers.
III. Literature review
When tintoc investigated variables influencing delivery time, they believed it was related to road
bottlenecks, storms, and consumers. They stated that in Vietnam, because the traffic infrastructure
was still inadequate, traffic jams occur in major cities, causing delivery times to clients to be extended;
moreover, they stated that the situation was not favorable. Stormy weather also makes it harder for
shippers to transport and maintain products, and items are at danger of being damaged when exposed
to rain. Finally, they related to reasons from the buyer or supplier, since the buyer may change his
mind about not wanting to get the products, or the buyer was unable to receive the goods, or it was a
question of time for the supplier, long preparation time, no stock.
Furthermore, indochinapost believed it is because the shipping route and procedure have not been
optimized, resulting in a lengthier delivery time.
In conclusion, the elements described in the preceding research articles are correct in each location and
at various times, however in the essay below, group 3 wants to learn about the factors of miles, gas
consumption, delivery, highway, time (per day).
