Directions:

This is a research assignment. Use your textbook, web articles, and NAU library to conduct resear
when writing this paper.

Use APA style references and in-text- citations. You need to use at least 3 different resources
besides Castronova (2002), and Moore (2015).

Part 1. DISCOVERY LEARNING:

Download and read the following article:

 Castronova, J. A. (2002). Discovery learning for the 21st century: What is it and how
does it compare to traditional learning in effectiveness in the 21st century. Action
Research Exchange, 1(1), 1-12. Retrieved from
http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?
doi=10.1.1.594.6363&rep=rep1&type=pdf
 After reading this article and conducting additional research, answer to the following
questions.

What is discovery learning?

Discovery learning is an investigation learning technique based on a postmodern approach to teach

and is used to teach students about the world around them (Castronova, 2002). Problem-based education, ac

experimentation, and 21st-century teaching are all words that have been used to characterize this type

learning in the past.

How does this form of teaching compare to traditional, teacher-centered instruction?

In contrary to direct instruction, the discovery approach includes students learning via hands
experience. Since the beginning of time, this has been the most widely used approach for instructors to educ

students to think critically and autonomously while navigating their own learning processes.

What educational theories support the discovery learning model?

An example of theory that supports the Discovery Learning Method is constructivist theory. I

predicated on the premise that learners develop their personal perspective and worldview via their o

encounters and reflections on those encounters (Castronova, 2002).

What is the most important thing you discovered about discovery learning?
One of the most significant things I learned was that Jerome Bruner is widely considered to be

father of experiential learning. It is his belief that kids study to acquire information in a way that is m

applicable to the situation at hand while engaging in the process of discovery. Culminating in both pract

and interesting findings.

How can you apply this method to your future classroom?

I want to utilize the method to aid students in realizing the vast quantity of information they might

get just by chatting with others. Learners should be assigned a conversation, and they should make notes

what they discovered, what shocked them, and the advantages of learning directly from the source on th

findings.

Part 2. ADDITIONAL CHAPTERS

 Select one of the following chapters to conduct research: Chapter 2, 3, 5 or 12. Revie
the chapter and respond to related questions for that chapter by conducting your ow
research.
Chapter 3- Managing Classroom Environment

1. Discipline approaches. Analyze the three approaches to classroom management. Which
approach, if any, do you prefer? Can you put together parts of the different approaches and
come up with an eclectic approach that you think would work for you? Can you identify som
basic concepts that appear to be true of all three approaches?
In order to properly run a classroom, there are three main components. A few of the vari

possibilities are content control, covenant management, and behavior management. Effective teaching meth
use a list of visible traits that students can perceive to express and support these beliefs. I like to use con

management (Castronova, 2002). One of the most important elements in information management is con

management, a set of procedures and technology that supports the gathering of information from any sou

and distribute it in any manner. Rather than being referred to as information when stored and retrieved

computers, data is more explicitly referred to as digital material or simply content ( Praetorius et al., 2018)

variety of tactics may be used to create an eclectic strategy that I believe will work for me. There are th

methods of classroom management, and high disciplinary issues in the classroom have a substantial influe

on the efficacy of teaching and learning ( Weber et al., 2018). A teacher's difficulty to design and const

acceptable educational assignments has been seen when they are challenged with such obstacles. Lesson pl

are typically lacking in diversity and students aren't encouraged to debate or critique the stuff they're learn

Furthermore, pupils are seldom tested on their knowledge and work in the classroom.

2. Causes of misbehavior. Think back over the classes you have attended in which there hav
been disciplinary incidents. List the possible causes for any such misbehavior. How might
knowledge of the causes of these incidents influence a teacher’s actions? Some behavior
problems are teacher created and some are student-centered. Can you think of examples?
In two of the classes, I've attended where there have been disciplinary situations, students who were

planning campaigns to elect their leaders were mentioned, and I was one of them. This kind of condu

may be explained by the desire for power. Some students may resort to yelling and fighting in order

restore their composure (Castronova, 2002). Students who do not follow the teacher's instructions or

not follow the group's rules while working together will be the result. As a result of this, they will

behave rashly in order to maintain their advantage. It's an indication of authority when a learner heed

your directions. They act out because they want greater power or control over the issue ( Sopcak & Ho

2022). Teachers emphasized the importance of their students' competence, motivation, expectations,

and outlooks as aspects that may affect their instructional activities ( Debreli & Ishanova, 2019). Almos

all of the educators surveyed admitted to occasionally altering their teaching methods and activities t
better meet the needs of their students
