CASE STUDY ABOUT TEAM CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Why is this case about team conflict? What conflicts do you see developing?

The reason why this case is a team conflict is because, it is about two groups which involved

Valmed a Swiss-based company with extensive U.S operation and Pharm-CO a French based

company that merged for the purpose of detailed record keeping of their drug performance.

The conflict that I see in this situation is lack of Collaboration. Collaborating aims to find a

solution to the conflict through cooperating with other parties involved. Hence, communication

is an important part of this strategy. In this mechanism, effort is exerted in digging into the issue

to identify the needs of the individuals concerned without removing their respective interests

from the picture. Collaborating individuals aim to come up with a successful resolution

creatively, without compromising their own satisfactions (Indeed, Editorial Team, 2021).

The reason why the team are being affected by distance is because of their lack of collaboration.

if they were working from the same country, it would have been better at least they would have

the option of interacting if not through the formal approach, they would go through the informal

approach to speak to their other team member and air their points and concerns.

I believe the sub-team sponsors were necessary but to some extent, their help would be in a way

to that when conferences are set, they would make sure that the meeting went through. The

problems that it solved was that it served as a mediator to the two teams so when there is a tie in

the vote then they would come in.

It never solved the problem of Didier, which was the U.S team biggest problem, because he

never allowed the U.S based teams to air their perspective and opinions. Would likely continue

to prevent them from communicating and sharing information with each other’s team which

tends to make the U.S team feel that they are not valued, and their contributions and perspective

are not needed. To top it all, they believe that Didier is being very autocratic, making and taking

decisions all by himself.

The very important things to consider in cases like this are, in a situation that involve group,

every group needs to be allowed to air their perspective and understanding of what they know

and be allowed to interact and communicate with their various team members so as to be the

same page of information with each other on the case or the project that they are working on.

Teamwork skills are the qualities and abilities that allow you to work well with others during

conversations, projects, meetings or other collaborations. Having teamwork skills is dependent

on your ability to communicate well, actively listen and be responsible and honest. There are

many other additional soft skills that can help you be an exceptional teammate at work (Keiling,

2021).

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Valmed and Pharm-Co company just needed to come together and collaborate

and try to satisfy the concerns and needs of each other and figure out a way or solution to work

on their differences as a team. Teamwork skills is very important and necessary to apply when it

comes to teamwork.
