Chemical engineering projects
Due date: 22 December 2020
Thapelo Mokomelo (studied at the University of Stellenbosch) who was also one of the guests showed
how he is passionate about chemical engineering, (he refers it , as processing engineering).if l heard
correct, he also mentioned that he also went to the states to further his studies or some sort, I actually
really found that very inspiring. I am now also looking forward on furthering my studies in this chemical
engineering course.
From the pictures of the equipment they use in industry, that they showed us during the presentation, I
now have an idea on how the equipment’s such a distillation column really looks like and the size of it.
During they’re presentation, they also highlighted at how each person is actual responsible for the job
they’re given. Each person is actually accountable on anything that can happen on the task their
assigned to in the industry. From the presentation they gave us, it really showed how it doesn’t matter
on where one did they’re chemical engineering course. One might have done it in a traditional university
like UCT and one in a university of technology like CPUT. This just shows how the stigma of where one
studied doesn’t matter at all in industry.
I really appreciate the presentation that they gave us. It actually gave us an insight at what to expect
when one goes to industry. I believe at some point , I will also find myself working in a refinery industry
like chevron.
