Description of Artifact ( *The personal artifact may be anything that demonstrates growth, skills, interests, discoveries, and/or abilities
from your experience this last year -- can be school-related or not.)
For my second personal artifact, I chose the competition that took place in Tucson, AZ from May
3- May 6. I really enjoyed the trip and the classes that we had. I learned a lot more about the
guitarron and about mariachi music. Also the classes were taught by a member of Mariachi Los
Camperos so it was really nice hearing stories about their time in the mariachi.
How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?
Although we did not win the competition, I had a lot of fun and I feel like I got closer to
members of the mariachi and the teacher. When we had class on Tuesday, I talked to a lot more
people than before because we had connected during the trip. This trip also motivated me to
continue playing in a mariachi, so I play to join the UC Davis mariachi and I will continue
practicing to get better.
CHS Portfolio
Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the
course of working on this artifact? Explain.
I feel like I did because after this, I want to continue playing music and I want to sing, which has
always been something that scared me. I have asked the teacher to give me more music to learn
to play in my free time and I have also started creating even more time to practice.
Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact
may also be used in a career in which you are interested.
When I become a vet, I will have to continue studying about new diseases and changes
happening to animals so I will need to continue practicing. I will need to engage more and find
ways to balance work and more studying
