Two-Minute Speech

What a pleasant day for everyone, I am Shawn Lesnar R. Abayan, 18 years old, I
live in Caloocan City, and I'm a freshman from Divine Mercy College Foundation
Incorporated. I am taking a bachelor's degree in Information Technology. At first, I aspired
to become a fashion designer, but due to financial reasons, I cannot pursue my dream
profession at the moment. Now I am taking IT furthermore to financially sustain myself in
achieving my dream course.

I am the youngest of siblings. My mother and father decided to live in Caloocan after
they married. My parents are hard workers, and that's where I adapt to being a hard
worker. Ever since they've taught us about being independent, and they also taught us
that if we want something, we need to work hard for it. And since then, it has stuck with
me to become a hard worker and be independent. Other than being a hard worker and
independent, I also have skills under my sleeves like I have good communication skills,
I'm computer literate, eager to learn new things and ideas, and I can effortlessly adapt to a
new environment.

Ever since I was a child, I've been interested in Arts. I love creating artwork like
drawings, paintings, etc. Making artwork or art for me is a chance to express myself, my
feelings, or my emotions and got a chance to utilize my imaginative mind. Other than my
fascination with Arts, I also have a passion for performing. Using my talents like singing,
dancing, and acting, I can provide an excellent performance to showcase to the audience.
When I got a chance to perform on the stage, I always left my heart out on stage.
Performing helped me to build confidence and boost my self-esteem as I expressed
myself while performing.

And the one thing that is important to me is my Family. They serve as my strength in
facing battles, hardships, and my journey in life. They are also my inspiration in my life
goals and also inspired me to achieve the goals I set for myself. My Family drives me to
work hard and be the best version of myself. I put my Family at the core of my priorities,
every time we got to hang out with them, I always cherish every moment that we spent.
They are my cheerleader in life who always reminds me that I can do all things if I believe
in myself.

Two-Minute Speeches
What was your experience going through this exercise?
My experience while doing this activity is I enjoy every moment of it. While doing this task, I
learned a lot about myself as I jotted down the things about me that I wanted to share with everyone
so they would know me more through this piece. And all the things I noted, that is where I base the
essay I wrote. It was a fun experience to reflect on yourself and express your true self freely with this
activity.

How was this difficult for you?

While constructing this speech, I have not experienced any difficulties as I treated this speech
like having a chat or a conversation with a new acquaintance, the audience serves as a new
acquaintance, and this essay is like my introduction to them. This speech will serve as my
introduction for them to know me better, and sharing it with the audience makes me happy as I can
express my authentic self and confidently and introduce myself.

What were you thinking (self-talk) before and during this speech?
What I am thinking about while making this essay is I want them to learn things about me, and
to naturally express my thoughts and share pieces of information about me, and for them to know me
more. During my speech, I felt a little nervous and thrilled as I got a chance to share myself with
everyone and to have this moment where we learned things about each other and shared new things
and ideas with everyone.

What were you feeling before you told your story?

Before my speech, I felt a little nervous because I want this speech and this performance to be
successful. But at the same time, I thought to myself rather than doubting myself I should be
confident and optimistic because I made this speech with my heart and soul. This speech is the story
I want to share with everyone so they can know more things about me and just expressing my
authentic self.

What is it you want us to see in you by telling this story?

What I want the audience to see in me while doing my speech is my authentic self. The raw
and unfiltered story I'm telling will enable them to get to know me more through this speech. I also
want the audience to appreciate this speech I prepared by listening and comprehending the things I'm
sharing. And overall, to let them see my true self through this speech I’ve prepared.

As a first-year college student, one of my roles and responsibility is to be a good

role model for the youth. Since I am older, I should set a good example and influence
them to be good people like me. Being a good role model can impact the lives of the
youth, as it can inspire them to be better people with the help of my influence. Also,
being an influential person has an affiliated responsibility as everything action we do
can influence the youth and can have a vast impact on them. That is why we should be
more careful about every action we make and always reminds ourselves that the
younger generation looks up to us. And we should focus on studying and doing good
things and be good role models to the younger ones.

Other than being a good role model, It is also my role to actively involved in the
activities within my community and engage in social interactions with other community
members. With these, it can drive me to build a good relationship with my community
members and vastly bring good benefits to the development of the community.
Following the laws, rules, and regulations implemented by the government is also one
of my roles as a student, as it helps us to be morally responsible, drives uniformity, and
enables us to be more disciplined. And it can help the country to be peaceful and safe
for everyone. Overall, it is vital for us to perform our roles and responsibilities because
it is very beneficial as it drives the development and betterment of our community,
society, and the country. And lastly, it is our duty to fulfill these roles and
responsibilities as a citizen of our country.
