Introduction

An advertising campaign is a marketing ad or a set of advertisements targeted at particular

audience segments. The majority of their efforts are focused on increasing conversions. The
success of an advertising campaign is determined by the channel, plan, and tactics used.

For instance, a never seen before avatar of Rahul Dravid has been in a mix of emotions for a lot
of fans and people on social media. In the Cred's ad campaign #IndiraNagarKaGunda, a well-
known cricketer Rahul Dravid has shown a different side of his pert which is supposed to be as
unbelievable as CRED’s services. The ad film featured actor and CRED-favorite Jim Sarbh
along with legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid in a never-seen-before avatar.

Audiences also witnessed other beloved celebrities being caught in an unlikely act in this
campaign. Apart from ‘The Wall’ himself, this intriguing premise promises to create memorable
moments but with a touch of unpredictability.
To create an advertising campaign it’s important to keep in mind the target audience and to
understand how you can strike a chord with them to get them interested in your products or
services.

The Objectives of an advertising campaign:

You can reach various business goals with a well-planned advertising campaign. They include:

● Introduction of a new product

● Acquisition of new consumers
● Increase brand awareness
● Communicate your unique selling point
● Encouraging users to switch a brand
● Motivating leads to make their first purchase
● Bringing customers back to your company
● Educating leads
● Boosting sales
● Improving brand recognition

How to make a successful advertising campaign:

● Make sure your ads are "on strategy" with your business positioning.
A good positioning strategy ensures identification of the correct target audience for your
advertising, along with a listing of meaningful features and benefits. It can provide
reasons why the product is superior and unique, along with an advertising "personality."

● Communicate a simple, single message.

Make sure your campaign is simple and easy to understand. For print ads, the simpler the
headline, the better. Every other ad element should support the headline message,
whether that message is "price," "selection," "quality," or any other single-minded
concept.

● Stick with a likable style.

Ads have personality and style. GAP is an international clothing retailer with department
stores all over the world. Yet, in 2010, GAP decided to change the iconic logo that every
customer recognized and loved. However, rebranding happened and GAP’s new logo
included only the brand name and a little blue box on top of the last letter.
This change created outrage among loyal customers. Not even 6 days later the company
decided to go back to the old logo design. Bottomline is, find a likable style and
personality and stay with it for at least a year or more of ads. Changing ad styles and
personality too often will confuse potential buyers. It also fights against memorability.
● Be credible.
If you say your quality or value is the "best" and it is clearly not, advertising will speed
your demise, not increase your business. Identifying and denigrating the competition
should also be avoided. It is potentially confusing and distracting and may backfire on
you by making buyers more loyal to competitive products, not less.

● Make sure the ad is competitive.

Do your homework. Examine competitive ads in the media that you are planning to
advertise in. Make sure your ad stands out from competitive ads. You can use personal
judgment, ad test exposures to a small group of target buyers (i.e., qualitative research),
or more expensive, sophisticated quantitative test methods. Compare ads for uniqueness,
memorability, credibility, and incentive to purchase.

Reasons for failure of a political campaign:

A political campaign is an organized effort which seeks to influence the decision making
progress within a specific group. In democracies, political campaigns often refer to electoral
campaigns, by which representatives are chosen or referendums are decided. That being said,
political campaigns can go south if not delegated upon with responsibility and care.

1. False promises
Some politicians knowingly make promises during elections campaigns that are pie-in-the-sky
and fail to implement them. These promises create hope in the minds of the public and when they
are not fulfilled, disappointment arises which leads to a downfall of the campaign.

2. Failure to create the right image

Candidates and politicians should make sure to create an image that is favourable in the eyes of
the public. A positive, cooperative and understanding attitude is what should be communicated
via the candidate to the masses. When the politicians give off a pessimistic, dominating and
arrogant attitude, it does not sit well with the public.

3. Failure to appeal to the masses on all fronts

The candidates must utilise all forms of media in order to orchestrate their political campaign.
They must keep in mind their target audience and choose the right form of media in order to
connect and communicate their ideologies to them. For example, for local village elections, the
parties should campaign via billboards, the radio and newspapers. The use of social media would
be ineffective in this case.

4. Over ambitious goals

More often than not, leaders are over ambitious and set goals that they fail to meet. For eg. a
leader would promise to eradicate poverty in a certain region if elected. In this case, if he fails to
do so because of his over ambitious mindset, the public would lose their trust.
5. Candidates image and reputation
A political campaign can fail when a leader of a party has a bad reputation from events that have
taken place in the past or recently as well. The public forms a certain image towards the said
party and that ultimately affects the political campaign in a negative manner.
