MODERN SLAVERY

It is believed that slavery is a practice that ended years ago, but for many, that horror has not
yet ended; Today a term that has become very popular is "fashion" but most of society is
complicit in what is modern slavery, people are mistreated and exploited and all their rights
are violated only for the benefit of those who only they care about wealth, the whole world is
hypocritical. It is enough that we realize it and do nothing, do not change, do not try to help
change the lives of the enslaved. All of us who consume products such as cell phones,
computers, televisions and even clothing, participate in a certain way in modern slavery
since most of these items are made by forced labor that against their will, are recruited daily
to produce these stuff. Benefits that large companies obtain from their sales.

Confirmed studies show that North Korea and Eritrea have the highest rates of modern
slavery in the world where forced labor only benefits governments, also Bangladesh, China
and Vietnam are participants in modern slavery but compared to the above countries , these
work to benefit large companies. that they export their products to the "first world"; An
example is the large clothing factories, where the products are exported to different parts of
the world, it is almost impossible for the workers of these factories to be there working by
force, without receiving any reward, being exploited daily just to satisfy the demand that
these big companies have to supply. These factories are located in countries like
Bangladesh, China and Vietnam, where they use people as clothing machines and violate
their rights as workers and as people; The garments that supply the department stores that
we can see every day in countries that are a little more developed than these, countries
where slavery may not be so evident, but they are garments that, from the raw material to
the elaboration of each one, may Come in. through enslaved hands, even children's hands
that should not be in these places and that when they reach the hands of a person with more
privileges, they are only used a few times and then discarded, it is from here that the change
for each of those recruited must leave, it is from the first world where consumerism is
excessive that there must be some alternative to promote responsibility here.

As it is well mentioned, the governments of North Korea and Eritrea are the main promoters
of modern slavery, and studies carried out in these countries show that these governments
are the main sponsors of forced labor, they interviewed North Koreans who were victims of
these situations and who deserted to live under this regime said that in addition to the long
hours of work and the inhumane conditions to which they were subjected daily, the work to
which they were subjected did not bring them any economic benefit, in addition, these jobs
included pregnant women, the elderly and children, violating all their rights. The Eritrean
government does not have many differences with the North Korean government's way of
acting, in the same way they abuse their power and forcibly recruit their citizens to do jobs
where only they benefit and for the people there is only more and more

At present, assuming that in most of the world people are "free", because in some way or
another the jobs they have are not forced or unpaid, then why some of us have more
privileges than others, why the rights of some are more respected than others, whole
countries for centuries have been enslaved and although things have been getting better for
others, there are still people who live under a regime where they have to perform tasks that
are obviously forced, where all the work is beneficial for the big industries but the progress of
the citizens does not exist, and from the time they are little until they die they live under
these orders, although the rulers are constantly changing the modality of slavery, it is still
that, slavery, forced labor that they are forced to do in order to survive, with zero
opportunities, and all this is seen thanks to the constant demand that the big producers
have. If the laws that currently want to be implemented to reduce modern slavery were
fulfilled in all large factories and it is true the change of labor of these, in the form of chain
everything will improve for all those affected directly and indirectly by these large industries
and thus ensure freedom for all.

In conclusion, the change of life for all these people who are victims of modern slavery must
begin first of all with the people who do not suffer any slavery, who, on the contrary, are the
ones who daily consume products made with slave labor that daily violate their rights and
that we do not care about, it is only indispensable to consume more and more and that's it.
The campaigns and aid that can be implemented to reduce forced labor in these countries
where it seems that the rights are forgotten should be more and that really is commitment of
all humanity to help, that the benefits we have do not cloud our empathy because it is very
noticeable that what we have today is thanks to years of struggle and clearly many are still
struggling today to obtain what is already normal for others. It is time to become aware and
ask ourselves the question that if what we obtain comes from hands that at some point were
mistreated just to create that, that which at some point will be discarded for something new.
Although we are not the "beneficiaries" who have to suffer all this, it is up to us to make the
change that all these people need.
