Reservations, Checking in, Requests and Enquiries

EXERCISE 1: Let’s put what you have learned into practice.


You are calling the Vila Luz to make a reservation. Follow the prompts to
complete the conversation:

R: Vila Luz good afternoon, how may I help you?

Y: Say hello and enquire about the room rate.

R: Our rooms start at €64 for a standard room and go up to €284 for a luxury suite
with an ocean view.

Y: Politely say that you want to book a standard room for 3 nights.

R: Certainly. What are the dates you would like to book for?

Y: Tell them you want to stay from July 3rd until July 5th.

R: So, that’s to check in on July 3rd and to check out on July 6th? Could I have your
name please?

Y: Con rm the dates, tell them your name, and enquire about the check-out time.

R: Would you like a room with two single beds, or a double bed?

Y: Tell them you want a double bed, and ask if there is a safe in the room.

R: Yes, every room has a safe, but we can also store your valuables in the safe
at reception.

Y: Thank you very much, see you in July.

EXERCISE 2: Checking in

R: Good afternoon, Welcome to the Vila Luz.

Y: Greet the receptionist and tell them your name and that you want to check in.

R: Certainly. May I have your ID and your credit card please?

Y: While the receptionist checks you in on the computer, ask if there is WIFI in the
room and ask for the password.

R: Here’s your keycard. You’re in Room 101 on the rst oor. Breakfast is served
from 7-10am. If you need anything, you can dial 9 on the phone in your room to
to reach reception.

Y: Thank them and request a wake-up call for the following morning at 7:30 am.
