Introduction to Houghton Regis Academy

Houghton Regis Academy (formerly Kings Houghton Middle School) is a coeducational


secondary school with academy status located in Houghton Regis in the English county of
Bedfordshire.

== History ==
This was previously a community middle school administered by Central Bedfordshire
Council,known as Kings Houghton Middle School. It converted to academy status on 1 of
September 2012 and was renamed Houghton Regis Academy. The school is sponsored by
the Greenwood Academies Trust group of Academies.From September 2013 the school
began to change its age range, transitioning to become a secondary school. It would teach
pupils in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and eventually have a sixth form (Key Stage 5). As an
academy it had to follow the UK National Curriculum and be subject to inspection from
Ofsted. It would lose the hands on support of the Local Education Authority and rely on the
services of the sponsor, Greenwood Academies Trust. Greenwood has a local advisory board
of governors but they have no delegated powers.The school is due to close permanently in
August 2022.

== Description ==
This is a very small 11-16 secondary school with significant excess capacity. The pupils are
happy and feel safe and respect the staff for addressing potential bullying behaviour.

Terry Barwick

Terence Patrick Barwick (born 11 January 1983) is an English football manager and former
professional footballer.
As a player he was a midfielder who played between 2000 and 2020. He played as a
professional in the Football League for Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town, before going
on to play in non-League football for York City, Northwich Victoria, Stalybridge Celtic,
Retford United, Droylsden, Worksop Town, Frickley Athletic, Bottesford Town and most
notably Goole where he spent four spells at between 2009 and 2020. In 2018 he was
appointed joint manager at Goole, a position which he resigned from fourteen months later.

Sheffield born Barwick came through the youth ranks of Scunthorpe United and was added
to the first team squad in the final months of the 1999–2000 campaign. He made his debut
in the club's 2–1 league defeat against Burnley when he came on as 46th-minute substitute
for Justin Walker. Though he only played a cameo role in his five years at the Glanford Park,
he was highly thought of by the club's supporters. He learned the ropes under first team
manager Brian Laws and his assistant Russ Wilcox. Barwick was bred from the same youth
side that featured Matthew Sparrow and Andy Butler and like the pair and other players
who come through United's youth ranks, he did well enough to keep himself at the club for a
reasonable period. His performances earned him a new one-year contract in both May 2003
and again in 2004.

professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kaliningrad. Besides, he was an earnest Polish
patriot who took part to the national uprisings of the time.

== Life ==
Maximilian Antoni Piotrowski was born on June, 08, 1813, in Bromberg, then in Prussia. His
father Andrzej owned a bakery in the old town, at 22 Długa street. His wife Teresa née
Baranowska and himself moved to the city a year before his birth, coming from the nearby
village of Koronowo. He spent his youth in his hometown, under the first decades of
Prussian occupation.After graduating from high school, Maximilian moved to Berlin at the
age of 20 (1833) to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1835, he studied
historical painting under the direction of Wilhelm Hensel. Once having completed his
studies in Berlin in 1838, he went on to an artistic tour through Germany. He visited
Dü sseldorf where he was taught by Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow. Schadow was a member of
the Nazarene movement aspiring to revive spirituality in art, with a return to Quattrocento-
like features, hence differentiating from the pseudo-classicism then in vogue in Europe.
