Questions

1) You want to do research on the effect of COVID-19 to the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Two
method of teaching were tested Off-line learning (Study in Campus, SIC) compare to On-Line Learning (Study
From Home, SFH) for Bachelor degree (S1) in Bekasi area. In order to do research, you should:
a. Define the problem statement of this research (you may use any evidence from sources).
(5 marks)
b. Determine your TWO (2) objectives of research.
(5 marks)
c. Develop TWO (2) hypothesis testing and the alternative (2 for H0 and Two H1) for this research
(10 marks)
d. Assuming there are 500,000 students in the population and a sample of 200 is desired. What
kind of sample method you need to do? And Explain why you choose this sampling method.
(5 marks)
e. If we want to do sampling in (d), show the technically step by step to do sampling from no 1 to
all 200 samples.

2. The Southwest Airline Case Study

What does it take to make money from a Business? To be successful in the aviation industry, it comes down
to one thing: efficiency. They want their customer to satisfy with their services. Southwest is the best
airlines, it has been several years as the best service airline in US. It consistently punctual, get few
complaints from customers, and make sure the luggage arrives back safely in the hands of the owner. Also,
airlines generally try to get the most out of the money spent from their customers. Southwest offered three
segments of classes in the airline: First Class, Business Class and Economic class. The passenger of each class
in percentage like 20%, 30% and 50%. Southwest use computers and algorithms to calculate ticket prices
and when customers are willing to pay money for tickets. They offer "frills" and options for customers to
spend more money. For example, there is option of paying extra to get on the plane earlier. Meals are
usually served on board. So how do they find success?

a) Determine your TWO (2) objectives of research

(5 marks)

b) If you want to research the success of Southwest Airline. You want to know how far consumers satisfy
with Southwest services. Determine what you want to study (Dependent Variable = DV), and state at
least FOUR (4) independent variables (IV) and explain why you consider those variables.

(10 Marks)

c) If you wish to examine the above, what method of data collection would be appropriate? Explain.

(5 Marks)

d) Determine the method of sampling chosen and explain why.

(4 marks)

e) If we want to do sampling in (d), show the technically step by step to get the samples.
