Scene 1:
Takes place at the Rochester Jazz Festival. The director and the announcer walk into the
Eastman theater holding hands. The announcer is smiling and gushing over the director more
than usual.

The announcer: I can’t believe you got us front row tickets to see our favorite band, the New
York voices! (she kisses the director on the cheek)

The Director: I can’t believe I am seeing my favorite band with the most beautiful and
wonderful girl in the world.

Usher: Tickets?

The Director: (goes in his pocket to get his ticket he’s looking around and empties his pocket
empties his pocket Empty Pockets By Herbie Handcock starts playing over the loud speakers)
That is odd I can’t find anything in my pockets, Jodie do you know where my phone went?

The announcer: No, maybe you left it in our hotel room.

The Director: No, I would have brough the tickets and my phone. I know I had my phone with
me. I took the picture of you by the Duke Ellingtion mural on Main Street. Maybe I can sign into
my email on your phone.

The announcer: Yeah, here you go (she hand the director her phone)

Usher: You two kids need to move aside. (Jodie and Peter move)

The Director: Where is your email app?

The Announcer: Right on my homepage, right there. Wait… It’s not there. Let’s re-download it.
Why does it say that this app is unavaible to download?

The Director: Restart your phone

Usher: I can’t have you two kids just standing here causing traffic. You need to go outside

The announcer: Oh we will be another minute we must have misplaced our tickets.

Usher: no you two need to leve or security will come here.

The announcer: Hey I just need to restart my phone so my partner and I can get our tickets we
are not causing any trouble

Usher: Don’t talk back, you and your boyfriend need to leave the venue and come back with a
ticket

Sercuty guard (1): Are these kids causing any trouble?

The Director: Holey Shit you’re back

The Announcer: (Goes complety pale and starts shaking and hides in the directors arms) NO

Larry Cobbins: That’s right I am out of jail and I am security for the events at the Rochester jazz
festival. But I won’t be causing any trouble tonight. You kids have your fun, but know I am back.

The Director: So you’re the one who stole my tickets?

Larry: Maybe. Too bad the show is completely sold out too. Now, you guys have no way
possible to see your favorite band. But that is all you will see of me tonight, and oh yeah Happy
early birthday Jodie.

The announcer and the director are outside. The director is aggravated and silent

The director: FUCK! I wanted this to be so special for you. But Larry comes back and ruins
everything

The annouver: (Stays silent)

The Director: is everything alright?

The announcer: I thought you said you were done?

The director: Me too. But what if he interfears with our lives? In a few years we are going to
travling the world and touring Europ, and you know what will happen after that?

The announcer: Little Peters’ and Jodies’!

The Director: Yes. So we really need to end this once and for all.

The annocer: Yes, I know I am safe as long if I am with you, although, I must admit I am
bummed about not seeing New York Voices.

The Director: Fuck. I am so sorry Jodie I know how much you wanted to go, this was souspoed
to be your first time and Larry come back. This must be the worst night ever for you.
The Announcer: Are you kidding me! Not at all, we are on our mini vaction to kick off our
adventuress summer. We spent all day around the city shopping for Coltrane and Mingus
records. Then we got to eat at restaurants my family would never let me eat at because they
were too expensive or too hipster-ish.

The Director: Only the best for my princess

The Announcer: let’s take a walk there might be a nice park somewhere.
(The two walk around the city loud jazz bands play. Coltrane’s black Perals play as the 2 go sight
seeing Peter finds and sits down.)

The director: You know, I would have been heartbroken to have been deprived of seeing my
favorite band. But you made this night magical.

The Annoucer: Oh, there is still some magic we need to make.

The director: what?

The Annoucer: Come there is a park up there.

(they walk to the park in the distance they sit under a tree. Jodie lays right in Peters arms and
pulls out her phone and plays the world keeps you waiting by the New York Voices.)
You know in the third screenplay I started developing a crush on you.

The Director: I knew it. That’s why I broke up with my ex. She was alright. Nice body, burrent,
brown eyes. But you- You are just so much more than that. You’re funny, kind, we actually have
stuff in common. You’re adventurs, undertsaning and just amazing. As they say in you go to my
head you make every day feel like a summer with a thousand Julys.

The Announcer: Every day I listend to the world keeps you waiting and in the wee small hours
of the moring beccasue they gave me hope. Hope that I would be yours, that you would like me
back. I just remember listing to the world keeps you waiting and it was puring rain out. I had
such a headace and I just started crying. Because I thought you were happy with your ex, and I
did not know if I would be able to give you that happiness.

The director: you have given me that and more.

(in the wee small morning of the hours chorus 2:33 starts playing)

The announcer: God I love this part. Dance with me!

The Director: Yes! I’d love to.

The announcer: You know, anyone could say they saw The New York Voices at the Eastman
Theater. But only we can say that we are going to overthow Larry and had this special moment.
I love you so much

The Directoe: Well, I’m bummed about not seeing them. But yes, this was very nice. I love you
too (they start making out intensly)

The announcer: Okay my belly is not happy right now because it wants a browinie with vinalla
ice cream from the hotel lets go back.
