Question 1:
What was my initial idea when I got the raw materials?
My initial idea when I got my materials was a rough idea to do something
with a plastic container. So at the beginning I thought of doing a pencil
stand. But then there was no use of rock and rubber band in it. Even though
if I wanted to do I can do by using small pebbles as a décor on the surface
outside and I can use the rubber band for the décor too. But I thought it
would be a very typical ordinary idea of best out of waste. So I thought mine
should be something different and a useful one in a very crucial time when
we wont be accessible to electricity or any source of resources. Then finally
I came to an idea of water purifier!
Question 2:
What was the difficulty I faced while
doing the activity?
The main difficulty I faced during the
phase of doing this activity was the fear
of the outcome of purification. Then the
other difficulty was piercing a hole in
the bottom of the container for the
water to come out. As the hole cant be
pierced easily we have to heat the knife
to pierce the hole but we have to be
careful with the heat and not ending up piercing a large hole because the
purpose of purification would be ruined.
Question 3:
How did my idea change through the course of my activity?
The rocks were definitely going to be placed inside the plastic container which
plays major role in the purification. But the use of paper and rubber band was
a very challenging task to decide. First I thought of wrapping the paper to the
container. And rubber band for supporting it to hold in in place. Then I
thought of crushing the paper into the shapes of rock and keeping it as the
primary purification an the rubber band as the handle for the purifier. Then I
thought the paper balls is not a very reliable one to a get a desired outcome.
Plus the rubber band may break due to the heavy load of rocks. So finally I
ended with the idea of paper acting as the filter paper. Which is the primary
purifier and the rubber band will support it to be in the same place.
Question 4:
What could I have done better? (self reflection)
I would have used a larger container so a large amount of water could be
purified. And I could have used a filter paper instead of A4 sheet so that it
would have looked even more professional and the water also would have
been purified even more. And while explaining my product I would
demonstrated it for the audience to know my product even better.
