We invite you
to discover the
Turkish culture
through the
cinematic eyes
of its people…
MISSION
Turkish cinema has enjoyed rising global
success throughout the past ten years. The
Corne d’Or Film Festival would hence like to
give wings to the films of this singular cul-
ture so that they may cross the ocean, just
like our figurehead, Hezârfen – the first
human to achieve the power of flight, once
glided over the Bosphorus Strait.

In point form, our mandate consists of the

following:

To showcase Turkish films in Canada.

To facilitate a blending between the cultures of

Quebec/Canada and Turkey.

To provide a forum for discussion about Turkish

cinema and the Turkish worldview.

To provide a platform for networking between

professionals in the international film industry.

To bring Canadian culture to the attention of

the Turkish public and film audience.

To give young filmmakers the opportunity to

reach industry professionals by exposing their
work.
WHO?
Festival Corne d’Or is a non-profit organiza-
tion founded by two individuals who stand
between the Turkish and Canadian cultures
with a passion for cinema. We will present a
carefully-selected collection of recent Turk-
ish films to Canadian audiences during what
is the 100th anniversary of the Turkish
cinema industry.

Five of the leading figures of Turkish Film

Industry will honour us with their presence.
Amongst them, Ahmet Mumtaz Taylan,
Onur Unlu, Aram Gulyuz, Nehir Erdogan and
Dervis Zaim will be in attendance at the
illustrious Imperial Theatre – both as distin-
guished guests and jury members.
HOW?
We will screen ten major Turkish
films and hold a competition of
short films from emerging directors,
accompanied by an exciting array of
relevant events, lectures, and work-
shops. The festival proceedings will
take place at Montreal’s Imperial
Theater near the famed Quartier des
Spectacles.

We will host two cocktail parties,

during which guests from both cul-
tures will have a chance to mingle
and indulge in the delights of Turk-
ish cuisine.

The Nobel Prize-nominated

Civilization Choir of Antakya and
internationally-renowned DJ,
Mercan Dede will grace us with
enchanting musical performances
across two different days.
WHERE?
The festival will be held at the prestigious Imperial Theatre
in the heart of Montreal, next to infamous Place-des-Arts
festival area.

Aside from the Théâtre Outremont, the Imperial stands as

one of the last “grande dames” of Montreal theaters. In
fact, in 2001, it was officially acknowledged as a historical
monument. Throughout its history, the theater was fortu-
nate enough to have passed through the hands of those who
were truly able to appreciate the value of the space; as both
a relic of cinema history and a vibrant venue in the heart of
Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles.

Upon entering the space,

one is immediately trans-
ported to the bygone era of
the emergence of talkies,
glamorous starlets, and the
early days of jazz. The
experience proffered by
such a beautiful venue
perfectly suits its purpose
as host for festivals, pre-
mieres, private screenings,
film shoots, etc.
YOUR PRESENCE AND

EXPOSURE?
Prior to the launch of our website, a mass e-mail announcing the
festival will reach over 52,000 individuals from Canada’s Turkish
diaspora. Through this large-scale promotional act, any sponsor
associated with and involved in the enabling of the festival will
have the chance to reach a significant community with vested
interests in such a cultural celebration.

Sponsors will have their emblems appear on tickets, billboards,

banners, viral media efforts, and the festival website. Also,
depending on their level of sponsorship commitment, sponsors
will have the option of presenting video advertisement before
each major screening.

Additionally, based on the nature of the pre-arrangement,

a sponsor may be given space or kiosk at the festival area to
promote itself and/or its products.
