Uniform and Basic Field Gear

Basic Uniform
This is the uniform kit for all members of the
353.Infanterie. All unit members are expected to have
their uniform complete by their first year anniversary
with the unit.
Tunic: Reproduction M40, M42, M43 Feldgrau (Field
Gray) wool tunic with correct Heer insignia* are
acceptable. M36 uniforms (w/bottle green collars) may be
worn by Officers and NCO's of the rank of Unteroffiziere
and above. M36 tunics are acceptable for early war
impressions. M44 tunics are acceptable although they are
not recommended. All unit members must obtain a proper
tunic as described above.
Trousers: M37, M40, M42 & M43 Feldgrau (Field Gray)
wool trousers (Langhosen Keilhosen or Rundbundhosen)
are acceptable. Steingrau (Stone Gray) M36 trousers
(Langhosen) are acceptable for early war impressions. All
unit members must obtain proper trousers as described
above. Properly converted and dyed Swedish or Swiss
conversions may to be used as "Stop Gap" ** trousers
only. Unconverted Swedish, East German or Swiss
trousers are unacceptable.
Service Shirt: Reproduction mouse gray or West German
olive drab service shirt (cotton) with collar and proper
buttons. White collarless shirt are acceptable for early war
impressions or Officers.
Suspenders: Reputable reproduction or original
suspenders.
Jack Boots: Original or reproduction Jack boots. With or
with out hob-nails (Hobnails are optional). West German
Parade boots are acceptable. All unit members must obtain
proper boots as described above. East German jack
boots may to be used as "Stop Gap" ** boots only.
Low-Quarter Boots: Reproduction, original or Swiss low
boots of black or brown colored leather. No leather toe
caps. Black or leather soles. Boots must be of the "eyelet
style" (no hooks). With or with out hob-nails (Hobnails
are optional). Gamaschen must be worn with all low
quarter boots.
Gamaschen (Gators): Original or reproduction German
in green, khaki or olive. West German with the buckle
replaced with a leather loop, or the metal loop removed.
Helmet or Stahlhelm (Steel Helmet): Original, post-war
or reproduction M35, M40 or M42 helmet with correct
liner and suspension pins preferred. Properly mounted
West German liners using split pins are acceptable.
Preferred paint scheme is Feldgrau with single Heer decal
on the left side. All unit members must obtain a proper
helmet as described above. Spanish helmets may to be
used as a "Stop Gap" ** helmet only. Spanish helmets
must be properly converted with proper vent holes and
split pins. Unconverted Spanish helmets are unacceptable.
Field Cap: Feldgrau (Field Gray) wool, M34, M38, M40 side caps or M42, M43
Feldmütze style (billed caps) are acceptable. Heer splinter camouflage & HBT reed
green Feldmütze (field caps) are also acceptable but not recommended. Caps should
have all correct insignia and buttons where appropriate. (See cap insignia below.)
*Heer Insignia:
Cap Insignia: All insignia are to be appropriate to style of cap. Trapezoid Style,
Subdued gray eagle with red, white & black cockade, on field gray or green, Bevo or
embroidered for M42 or M43 style (billed caps). Individual eagle & cockade (National
colors) for M38 or M40 side caps. For splinter camouflage & HBT reed green
Feldm�tze (billed cap), insignia is optional.
Bayonet and Sheath: Standard German military S. 84/98 bayonet adopted in 1934 for
the Karabiner 98k rifle. Original or reproduction K98 or VZ-24 style preferred. Or
appropriate to weapon carried.
Bayonet Frog: Black Leather or Late war web style. Brown leather acceptable for early
war impressions.
Belt: Adjustable type with correct WWII style keeper. Black leather or late war web.
Brown leather acceptable for early war impressions.
Canteen: Original, post war, or reproduction canteen w/wool cover, with or without
correct cup. Aluminum preferred. "No blue covers allowed."
Gas Mask Canister: Original or reproduction war era canister preferred. Pre/early war
acceptable but not recommended. (Gas mask optional)
Identification Disc: Reproduction with identification number and Kompanie. (See Unit
Commander)
Mess Tin: Original, reproduction, post-war West German, East German or combination
there of (To achieve the proper impression.)
Weapons:
Rifle: "Preferred": Karbiner 98k: WWII German K98k (Mauser Rifle) with metal butt
plate and no wood behind the rear sight. This is the standard five round, bolt action
weapon of the German soldier.
Acceptable: Czech VZ-24, MP38, MP40 "Schmeisser", MP43, MP44, G43, K43,
G33/40, MG34, MG42,
Pistol: P-38, P-08 (Luger), Belgian Browning 9mm High Power. Pistols are restricted to
Officers, NCO's of the rank of Unteroffiziere and above, Crew-served weapon
commanders (Field artillery), MG teams, Mortar teams and Sniper teams. The PP, PPK,
CZ24, and CZ27 are acceptable but not recommended.
Captured Weapons: French MAS 36, Russian Tokarev SVT-40, PPSh (Any variant),
Italian Berretta MP38a, MP38-42, MP38-44. Other WWII weapons such as Belgian,
Czechoslovakian, Danish, Dutch, and French are acceptable with approval. Captured
weapons should be kept to a minimum and limited in use and numbers.
Other Weapons: Including, but not limited to: Original or reproductionGerman Stick
Grenade, Egg Grenade, Panzerfaust, Panzerschrek, Trench/Boot Knife, Magnetic
Mines, Flair pistol and cartridge carrier, etc, as common to the WWII German
Wehrmacht.
