GENERAL GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION:
Application forms
- Application form can be obtained from our website: www.aravind.org.
- Application fee : Rs. 1000 (with 18% GST) for Long term fellowship
programmes. There is no application fee for short term programmes.
- Long term fellowship programmes for national candidates can be
applied online at http://aurovikas.co.in/longtermfellowship.aspx
- Incomplete application form will not be accepted or considered for
selection.
- Passport size photograph should be enclosed with the application form.
- The required documents / certificates should be enclosed.
Admission Procedure
- Admission will be made on a first come first serve basis subject to
meeting the eligibility criteria.
- For Residency courses : Mode of selection is through
Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Directorate of Medical Education Counselling,
Chennai (MS & DO)
National Board of Examinations, New Delhi (DNB, Post DO DNB)
- Individual applicants are requested to fill-in the application form and
send it to the Course Coordinator by mail / post / fax.
- Organizations wishing to nominate / sponsor candidates are requested
to submit the nomination form along with the application form.
- The status of the application form will be intimated within two-three
weeks after the receipt of the application form.
Fee Payment for Certificate Programmes
- On receipt of confirmation /appointment letter, the programme fee has to
be submitted by way of Demand Draft (D.D) drawn in favour of Aravind
Eye Hospital , payable at the respective centres.
- International candidates can pay the course fee through wire transfer; the
account details will be given by the course coordinator on confirmation
of participation.
- For Management courses, Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of
Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology - Madurai.
- Payment can also be done online on receipt of invoice. Please contact
course coordinator for assistance.
Certification
- Certificates will be provided at the end of the course for all Long Term,
Short term and Management Courses after completion of the payment
process.

Accommodation & Food
Candidates posted in Madurai centre can stay at Inspiration trainees
hostel. For candidates selected in other centres, accommodation is
available at Postgraduate Hostels within the hospital premises. Contact
your course coordinator for tariff details. Participants are requested to
submit their ID proof at the time of check-in.
GUIDELINES FOR INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES
Approval from Medical Council of India (MCI)
- MCI provides the temporary license for international candidates to
practice Medicine in India. It is mandatory for all provisionally selected
ophthalmologists from foreign countries to get temporary license from
the MCI to undergo surgical training in India.
- MCI approval is also mandatory to obtain Visa.
- You can get detailed information regarding this from the website
www.mciindia.org or contact the course coordinator.
- After confirming your slot, the institute will take up steps for the MCI
approval process, for which you need to share the necessary information
and documents.
- Final selection is subject to fulfilling the procedural formalities of Medical
Council of India.
- On receipt of the MCI approval, final confirmation and visa invitation will
be given from the institution.
Visa
- A Visa is necessary for all international candidates to travel to India. It is
advisable to get visa for the entire training period before arriving in
India.
- Extension of visa period during your training is not possible.
- As your visit to India is for undergoing training, you must obtain
student / business/ conference visa (based on the duration of your
training). Tourist visa is strictly prohibited.
- On arrival at Aravind, the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration
Office) registration formalities will be done as per the reporting
instructions given in the visa page.
- For registration purpose, the participant should have their four
passport size colour photographs (4x4cm with white background, ears
distinctly visible without spectacles and cap).
