Seniors Fixing The Parking Issue

Dear Brighton High School’s Administration,

These last few years at Brighton have been pretty hectic with covid and the construction

of the new school. Along with the new school comes the parking issue and I’m sure you are

aware of this issue and I have a solution to solve it. My proposal is to create a designated lot for

only the seniors. This lot would be located in the pit and would be limited to only seniors. This

could help the parking issue because many seniors don’t have full schedules due to ctec or all

their credits are completed. Oftentimes they get to school late so if they had a designated spot to

park it could lower the amount of illegal parking. In an interview I conducted with one of the hall

monitors at Brighton highschool they stated, “Yes, I know they would” when asked, “Do you

think they would use the lot. The seniors of 2022-23 have gone threw the issues of parking

during construction for example when the parking lot was at the church north east of brighton or

if they didn't have a pass waking up early to get a spot on the road in front of city hall or making

the long walk from the skate park parking lot. Not only would this new lot make parking easier

and stressless it could also be a reward for having to deal with the construction.

My goals are to help less students get tickets, and give the seniors something that not

everyone else has in hope it helps them enjoy the last year of highschool. First, if seniors don't

have to worry about parking and have their one lot there they are less likely to park illegally.

Second, senior year is the last hurrah of being a kid before adulthood sneaks up on them. The

seniors need some sort of seniority and this is an easy and simple way to do that. In order to

accomplish these goals there will need to be an action plan. This plan is a three step process:

Purchasing signs for the lot and passes for the seniors, informing the future seniors, and handing

out the passes and putting the signs up. These 3 steps are easy and hopefully will have a bigger

return. Even though I am graduating from Brighton this year I think it's still important to focus

on the future so even if my class doesn’t get a senior lot I hope a future class will.
