Mi Ultimo Adios Reflection Paper

Mi Ultimo Adios was believed as Rizal’s last will before passing. He believed

that offering his life was the best way he could show his sincerity and love for the

country. Hoping that his death would serve as inspiration to everyone. Even when

facing his death, he was still very optimistic, because he knew that through his death

our country would soon be free from the colonization of the Spaniards.

As a child, I aspired to be a hero like Dr. Jose Rizal. It's normal for a grade

schooler to have such fantasies because they were too carefree and naive. I used to

believe that a "hero" had to die before being considered one, but Dr. Jose Rizal was a

hero even before his death. Gaining the confidence to fight back in a country where

its own people are being oppressed by foreigners is nearly impossible. Being a hero

does not imply possessing special abilities or being a supernatural being. A hero is

someone who fights for his or her family, friends, or loved ones. Dr. Jose Rizal is a

hero because with his intelligence and artistry, he proved that the Filipino people are

being free. He is the one who fought for our liberty, our rights, our lives; he fought

for all of us through his words. He sacrificed everything that his own life was on the

line for this fight. And thus, We Filipino people, will do anything, and everything on

our power for what it takes. Making us a heroes ourselves.
