The Big Picture

“9 members of Catfish farmers association
(CAFFAN) of Ogun State, Ijebu Ode chapter
applied for the MSMEDF loan program”
Catfish farmers were recruited for the
MSMEDF intervention program which
doesn't give out larger loan amount as
much as fish farmers actually need but
they were able to judiciously manage the
little loan amount given to them to expand
their catfish farming businesses.
The beneficiaries complained the loan
amount was a bit small for their business
which I explained to them t was as a result
of the intervention program they
benefitted which wasn't primarily targeted
at farmers which they understood.
All beneficiaries of the MSMEDF program
with IDIPR were able to expand their
Catfish farming business with the MSMEDF
loan. Most of them dug more ponds with
the loan thereby increasing their
productivity.
If CBN continue with the program, the
beneficiaries will be able to do more, like
actually exporting their produce to other
 beneficiaries/Groups/Firms in the
foreseeable years.

If CBN could increase the amount of loan
given to the partners thereby increasing
the loan amount beneficiaries are able to
get for their businesses, it would go a long
way in increasing the business.
