REFLECTION

San Pedro is a wonderful spot to live in and raise a family. It is a society where nature and humanity
coexist together, and where faith and good deeds bind it to its Creator. It is a peaceful place yet residents are
facing serious problems regarding the trash scattered near the coastal area. Since fishing is one of the locals'
main sources of income, allowing waste to accumulate could lead to worse difficulties. It has the potential to
endanger the livelihoods of coastal populations and related industries, pose to risk to human health through
polluted seafood, and harm marine ecosystems that provide valuable sources. To prevent coastal pollution in
Barangay San Pedro, we collaborate with other sections to clear up plastic trash along the coast. This task
promotes waste reduction, recycling and reuse, and creates public awareness of waste management and
environmental concerns apart from reducing greenhouse emissions, combating climate change, and
improving environmental quality.

We planned to work on this task using collaboration tools to reach out to our group mates. We manage
to do the teamwork by cooperating with each other. We planned to do the task as early as 6 AM and went to
our designated areas to work. We brought a sacks and gloves to use for cleaning. Then together with the
group, we pick up the plastic trash in the coastal area. We ended at 8 AM after finishing our task. It has been
a great experience since our intentions are to make the Barangay clean and help the residents have a better
place to live in. We felt happy and satisfied after doing our work. It also feels comfortable working out with our
members because we know each other and we have been already in a group in the past activities. The activity
has given us an opportunity to become more productive individuals, concerning how to care for and how to be
responsible for our community and environment. Presenting and engaging in such activities is indeed of great
help to our community. We apply leadership in this task by cooperating with our leader to make the Clean-up
Drive possible. We help each other out and build a strong relationship to have better chemistry with the group.
We present ourselves as role models in the Barangay to show the residents what they ought to do in this kind
of problem. We spread awareness that this trash is also human waste so, in order to prevent this, we should
implement discipline for each and every one. We believe that if the residents will cooperate with us, the
coastal area of San Pedro will become a great place for livelihood.

The task has been successfully done because of our teamwork. All of us cooperated and it is something
we are proud of. Through this advocacy, have shared our contribution and part in a more meaningful way. We
believe that leadership is important in this kind of task. We manage to apply what we have learned in the
recent discussions which helped us in making our work done easily. We learned that awareness of the
environment is crucial. We must know the consequences of our actions because this might affect not only you
but everyone in your surroundings. Trash is everywhere so we must find ways to reduce it unless we are the
ones who will suffer. We can apply this learning as we continue our lives as normal residents in our area. We
can keep our trash in the garbage bin and avoid scattering it anywhere to prevent pollution. It is necessary for
future generations because our environment is facing a lot more serious problems and we are one of those
who can save it. Thus, with this concern, we are planning to continue sharing our effort and doing our ways
to protect and maintain the cleanliness of Barangay San Pedro’s coastal area. Through a Clean-up Drive, we
can assure livelihoods and peaceful life of the residents.
