2.1 Safety Regulations

Irrespective of the safety regulations described here, the statutory safety regulations must be
observed with priority!

1. The cable system is used exclusively for the transport of wood and material.
Any passenger transport is strictly prohibited.

2. The winch operator is responsible for the proper operation of the rope system. It is imperative
that you follow his instructions.
A person (employee) is also responsible for supervising every other workplace - middle/
valley station, etc.

3. All persons involved in the construction and operation of cable systems must be
instructed in the content of the operating instructions before the start of construction and
commissioning of the cable system until they fully understand the same.

4. Non-stationary cable winches must be set up and fastened in such a way that they cannot
change their position or tip over due to the load or other influences.

Steering or directly touching moving ropes with your hands is prohibited.

5. The rope operation may only be started after the stations have informed each other
and only if there is a reliable possibility of communication (visual signs are only permitted for
small, clear systems - up to about 100 m - otherwise a telephone or radio system is necessary).

6. The winch operator must not leave his position on the winch during operation. When
operating the system by radio, it must be ensured that the danger zone in the area of the
tilting mast can be seen by the winch operator at all times.

7. Signalling:
All signals must be explained by the operator before the system is put into operation.

8. When attaching the load using rope slings, ensure that the slings are firmly seated. Under no
circumstances must the load loosen itself.

9. The winches must be started up by slowly controlling them, as must stopping.

At the end of the day, the system must be secured in such a way that it is not possible for
unauthorized persons to start up the system.
Machine Translated by Google

10. The subsidy must be stopped immediately if:

a) failure of the telephone or radio system;
b) in dense fog - if signaling is visual;
c) occurrence of abnormal resistances on the track;
d) strong storm and thunderstorm closer than 3 km;
e) thrown over towing rope;
f) defective system;
g) damaged ropes.

11. All checks, incidents and repairs are to be entered in a note book.

12. Keep an appropriate distance from ropes running on the ground.

(Tight ropes can snap back if caught on obstacles).
The operating personnel has lifted the load from the railway line
and removed from the danger area.

13. Staying on the mast or winch platform is during operation

strictly forbidden.
Protective gloves and hard hats must be worn when working with and on ropes.
Striking clothing makes it easier for the winch operator to identify a location.

14. Staying at the angle of a loaded rope and under the suspended load is
forbidden.

15. Never near or on dropped trees while landing other trees

stand.

16. From climbing supports or support trees are disabled and not
exclude people with a head for heights.
Use crampons and approved safety belts when climbing.

17. All maintenance work, repairs, checks and other troubleshooting must only be
carried out when the system is at a standstill.

18. During the back, observe the slope above. Logs, root balls or stones could roll.

19. Always stand behind attached trees or behind the last attached tree.
Caution: Attached trees can get caught on obstacles and swing out.

20. Never stand with your back to an obstacle; clear the escape route.
Machine Translated by Google

21. Carrying and traction ropes must be checked for damaged areas, tangles, wire breaks or heavy wear
before each new installation of a rope system.
Repair damage immediately (details on the rope storage of damaged ropes according to DIN 15020).

22. The legal safety factors for steel wire ropes must be strictly observed. That
Operating personnel must be specially trained.

23. Damaged guy ropes must be replaced immediately. Splicing guy ropes is not permitted.

24. Lightning protection for cable systems:

If a thunderstorm comes up, the rope operation must be stopped and the facility left.

25. Deployment Guidelines:

The installation guidelines in the operating instructions must be followed, otherwise
dangerous conditions for people and machines may occur.

26. Preventive security measures:

Mobile phones (mobile phones) must generally be switched off during cable, grab crane and processor
operation; Telephone calls only when the control is switched off (EMERGENCY STOP button) or the diesel
engine is switched off.

27. When welding on the machine, a welding guard (Koller No.: E-0600029) must
be used to prevent the destruction of electronic components.
Machine Translated by Google

4.2 Dragline Pulling

The suspension cable is normally pulled out without the engine running in the
drum freewheel. The machine operator monitors the unwinding of the carrying
cable while he is ready to brake. If necessary, the reversing gear can also be
used to help, but the hydraulic pump must be removed for this. However, care
must be taken to ensure that there are no loose rope windings on the drum.

4.3 Works on the track

Suspension rope anchors: Only safe day rope anchors may be used - see tree anchor table -
otherwise multiple tree anchors or artificial anchors must be used instead.

The support rope or the anchor sling must be secured against sliding up the anchor boom (e.g.
threading through a trunk root).

Intermediate support and end mast:

See examples.
In all cases, fastening slings must be attached in such a way that they do not slip on the trunk
- if necessary, secure them separately. The angles of the ropes are to be chosen in such a
way that the support tree or terminal mast is loaded favorably; this is achieved when the angles
are equal.
If a support rope saddle receives enough pressure from the support rope, the use of the
fastening strap for the rope can be dispensed with. The shackles are subject to natural wear
due to being run over with the cable crane.
To ensure that the suspension cable stays in the suspension cable saddle during assembly
and tensioning, it is advisable to use thin flower wire and fasten the loose suspension cable in
the cable groove - there are 2 bores with approx. 4 mm ø under the groove in the sword of the
suspension cable saddle.
If a suspension rope saddle receives too little support pressure (e.g. if the support would be
too high), the suspension rope must be mounted in the groove of the sword using a strap and
special screws.
The support buckling angle that can be passed over is up to approx. 32° for movable suspension
cable saddles of cable crane systems.

4.4 Tensioning of the carrying cable

Before the suspension cable is tensioned, the cable crane is hooked into the loose suspension
cable, whereby the cable crane must already be securely connected to the traction cable and
the traction cable winch must be braked - otherwise there is a risk that the cable crane will race
towards the valley without a driver while it is being tensioned. When the work on the line is
complete, the carrying cable is pulled in with a low clutch pressure of less than 50 bar until the
carrying cable can still be laid in the tensioning compartment of the carrying cable drum for
tensioning.

The suspension cable may only be tensioned in the tension compartment.

For tensioning, set the drive motor to a higher speed and swing out the hydrostatics only
slightly so that the suspension cable drum rotates only slowly when tensioned, then open the
suspension cable brake and set the clutch to the selected clutch pressure - see pressure-
traction force table for suspension cable winch.
Before the clutch begins to slip, the rope brake is closed and the clutch released.

The brake lever is secured against unintentional opening with the chain.

Note the fixed tension effect on suspension cables.

The suspension cable brake may only be adjusted so tightly that it slips when the required
suspension cable safety is exceeded.

6. Duty cycle of a hill climb

descent without load:

Set the engine and the automatic transmission to neutral, disengage the cable drum
and let the empty cable crane drive downhill with the cable brake lever and brake slightly
if necessary.

Turnaround:
After stopping the cable crane, pull it uphill a little more than the set switching travel length. After
going uphill, the traction cable brake is released again and the driving brake is slowly moved in
the opposite direction (descent of the cable crane) until the cable crane clamps on the carrying
cable and releases the load suspension. (= lowering for load pick-up).

If a cable crane is equipped with a timer or radio control, there is no need to reverse the vehicle.

Lastbeizug:
After the load suspension has been pulled out and the load has been fastened, the
load pull-in usually starts at a clutch pressure of 80 bar. Pressure levels of 110 or 140 bar
are also available for larger loads. (See reference values in the push-pull force table). By
pulling the clutch lever and switching the gear selector lever to "D" or "1", the system now
slowly begins to pull the load. We recommend setting the gear selector to "1" to minimize
the dangers when pulling loads.

Last ride:
After inserting the load suspension system into the cable crane - signal from the trailer personnel
- drive briefly down the valley so that the cable crane can release its clamp on the suspension
cable.
Then the cable crane and its load are pulled upwards. By pulling the clutch lever and shifting the
gear selector to "D" and a little gas, the system is accelerated. Caution: Pay attention to the
traction cable clutch slip to avoid overheating. The automatic transmission must never be
operated for more than 30 seconds without turning the winch shaft outside of the neutral position,
otherwise there is a risk of overheating.

Lowering the load:

When the load arrives at the unloading location, the turning maneuver is carried out again until
the cable crane gets stuck. After clamping, the load must be raised slightly so that the load hook
lock opens and the load can be lowered.

Staying in the danger area of the load is strictly forbidden!

10 kN correspond to approx. 1000 kg.

7. Disassembly

The suspension rope must be slackened slowly and carefully.

Supports and end mast are dismantled. If the terrain is good, the route material can be transported to
the tipping mast with the cable crane by tensioning the carrying cable again. The cable crane should
be approx. 10 m away from the mast so that it does not hit the mast when the suspension cable is
released.
Unhook the cable crane, which is now lying on the ground, from the supporting cable.
Dismantle the suspension rope anchorage and wind up the suspension rope with low clutch pressure
(40 - 50 bar). If the suspension cable gets caught when being wound up, the hanger must be released
manually.

It must not be pulled with a higher clutch pressure than 50 bar, otherwise the winch shaft
could be overloaded!

If there is a bad winding of the rope on the carrying rope drum when winding it up, you can steer the
carrying rope with a wooden stick - never touch a running rope with your hands!

The cable crane is then lifted into its transport brackets with the traction cable or the carrying cable.

When tilting the top part of the mast, the latches of the two rear tensioning drums must
be open!

1. HYDRAULICS:

Maintenance of the hydraulics is limited to cleaning the intake filter and

changing the hydraulic oil.
Maintenance intervals:
The hydraulic oil and the hydraulic oil filter must be changed once a year. The oil is
changed by changing the oil from the oil tank.
Content hydraulic oil tank: 9.5 liters

Caution: Extreme cleanliness when working on the hydraulics!

If a hose line needs to be replaced, it must be thoroughly cleaned on the inside

before installation (useful with a steam jet and compressed air).

2. CONTROL CABLE:

The push-pull cable for the speed adjustment must be treated periodically, especially
before the start of the frost period, with penetrating oil on the cable sheaths when
entering and exiting.

Before returning the lever, the bleed screw must be closed again.

Repeat this pumping until the oil comes out of the vent screw without
bubbles.
The oil tank must be refilled.
Further venting takes place in the same way by opening and closing the connection
nipple on the brake cylinder.

3.6.4 Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause

The operating lever must be pulled several times

to the maximum working pressure
of 110 bar 3.6.4.1 / 3.6.4.2 / 3.6.4.3

The operating pressure drops 3.6.4.4 / 3.6.4.5 / 3.6.4.6

The operating pressure doesn't drop entirely, though

the operating lever in the non-pulled position
is (consequence: no or insufficient freewheeling of the
Drum) 3.6.4.7 / 3.6.4.8 / 3.6.4.9

Cause:

3.6.4.1 The hydraulics are not bled

3.6.4.2 Not enough oil in the oil tank
3.6.4.3 The brake or clutch is to be adjusted
3.6.4.4 The sleeve of the master cylinder K3-6-23-00 is leaking.
3.6.4.5 The O-rings of the brake cylinder are leaking. Oil leaks from the cylinder.
3.6.4.6 A hydraulic line or connection is leaking.
oil leaks out.
3.6.4.7 The pusher K3-6-20-16 presses in the O position of the operating lever
nor on the piston of the master cylinder K-5-23-00. (Play should be 1 mm).
3.6.4.8 The piston of the master cylinder is stuck (dirt, corrosion, ice, etc.).
3.6.4.9 The piston of the brake cylinder is stuck.

5. MAST CONSTRUCTION
The condition of the mast, all ropes and anchors, as well as the supports must be
checked before each use.

5.1 Mastsockel
The tensioning drum bearing and the tensioning drum drive must be periodically
lubricated with grease spray.
If necessary, the center distance between the tensioning drum and the tensioning
drum drive can be corrected by adjusting the tensioning drive.

If it often happens that too much rope runs off the guy drum when the guy rope is
pulled out, there is the possibility of installing an additional spacer ring in the guy drive
(sketch part no. 7 or
Order no. 0-2-07-01) to increase the turning resistance in the tensioning drive.
Machine Translated by Google

Part 7 = spacer ring

Teil 9 = elastic. Gummiring

If the effort required to pull the rope out is too high, this can be remedied by
removing a spacer ring.

5.2 Mast Pivot Pins

Lubricate the mast pivot occasionally.
The hold of the anti-twist device must be checked.

5.3 Mast
The screw connections must be checked visually at regular intervals.

5.4 Masthead
All moving parts must be checked for ease of movement.
The cable pulley tube and the cable pulley bolt must be greased periodically using
a grease gun!
The guide rails K3-3-11-06 on the movable train or
Retrieval cable housings must be checked regularly for wear and replaced if
necessary (if severely cut).
Machine Translated by Google

6. SAIL
Ropes must be discarded if there are 4 wire breaks at the worst point over a length
of 1 m (details on rope discard according to ÖNORM M 9603).

In the case of broken wire clusters, bulges, heavy rust or strong

Wear and tear and when there is a risk that a strand will break, a rope must be
discarded immediately.

6.1 Carrying cable

The carrying rope must be checked visually each time it is wound up and unwound.
Also pay attention to the area of the rope that gets from the storage part into the
tensioning part of the drum during tensioning, as well as the pressed thimble at
one end of the suspension rope.

6.2 Towing rope

The condition of the traction cable must be checked daily when winding or unwinding.
In the area of the load hook or the choker system, the rope must be shortened
immediately when the first signs of damage become visible.
As a preventative measure, the pull rope in the area of the load hook should be changed every 2 - 3 days

be readjusted.
Attention: When roping up, only wind up the new pull rope under pretension!
Loose rope spooling reduces the service life of the rope significantly.

6.3 Guy ropes and their extensions

The guy ropes, extensions and shackles are included in the assembly of the
to subject the tipping mast device to a precise visual inspection.
Guy ropes and their extensions must be replaced immediately in the event of
damage of any kind.
Splicing the guy ropes is not permitted.
It is recommended to use only original guy lines, extensions and shackles
to use.

The use of rope extensions with the opposite direction of lay than that of the
guy rope is strictly forbidden.
This will result in the rope breaking!

7. AUTOMATIC ROPE CRANE

see operating instructions for the KOLLER automatic cable crane type SKA or
USKA

8.) ACCESSORIES

8.1.) Carrying cable saddle

The hub of the sword and the axis of the suspension pulley, as well as the rope groove
must be greased before assembly.
In doing so, pay attention to possible wear and tear on the suspension pulley axle and
the rope groove and check the bayonet lock.

8.2.) Assembly, final mast and rope deflection pulleys

All rope pulleys must be checked for condition and functionality before each
assembly.

8.3.) Round slings

Before each assembly, the round slings must be checked for damage.
Polyester round slings have a limited service life of 5 years, even if they are in
perfect condition.

8.4.) Pull pull If

there is little dirt, drip in a little engine oil about every 2 months.
The grab rope must be checked before each use and must be replaced immediately
if it is worn or damaged.

Caution: Only use original pull ropes

The grab hoist must be checked annually by an expert (hoist check).
