Discuss your career and personal goals:

My career goal is to become a mechanical engineer. I have been interested in mechanical engineering since I joined the robotics
class in middle school. I also know there are some facets of mechanical engineering that try to be environmentally friendly. I want
to aid in conserving the earth while I work with what I like; building machines. My personal goal is to be the best I can be, and to
live a comfortable lifestyle. My personal goals and career goals are intertwined.

Why would you like to attend college/trade school/military?

I would like to attend college because I want to become an engineer. College is the best way to become an engineer. There is
also the benefit of gaining new experiences in college. Ultimately, it is the best way to get where I want to be.

Do your grades in high school reflect your academic ability or potential? Explain.

They do to some degree. I gave a good amount of effort to achieve the grades that I have. I have learned things along the way, and
my grades do reflect my effort. However, they don’t reflect how smart I’ll be. They don’t show how I’ll be in the future. I will
improve, and the grades don’t reflect my potential.

Are there any particular circumstances, school experiences, or persons that influenced your preparation or motivation to attend
college/military (e.g., cultural/financial background, family, and teachers)? Explain.

When I was in middle school, I took a robotics class. In this class we built simple robots. However, ever since then, I have been
fascinated with engineering. Another important goal of mine is to help conserve the earth. So, I researched which branch of
engineering will help me achieve both, and mechanical engineering is the best of both worlds.

Describe any obstacles you have faced in school/life and how you overcame them:

An obstacle that I am facing is walking to school. I have for the most part always been driven to school. This has made attending
school and staying motivated easier. However, last semester, my dad's catalytic converter was stolen. So he has taken my
mother’s car to work, and my sister and I have been walking to school. This event has changed my life. I now have to wake up
earlier, and walk to school. I overcame this obstacle by adjusting my schedule. I'm not tired anymore, and I have become more
disciplined.
