LA PRENSA Premium visited blind spots on the southern border between Honduras and El Salvador and showed that only the
neighboring country cares about providing security.
Several blind spots on the border between Honduras and El Salvador are very close to the dry canal.

Security on the southern border with El Salvador rests on the good faith of the Cuscatleco military who live in humble houses along
the border line and who were taken there to prevent the passage of Hondurans during the covid-19 pandemic.
LA PRENSA Premium visited several blind spots in the border municipalities of Valle (Alianza, Goascorán, Aramecina and Caridad);
gang members have an open door to enter the country. Proving the lack of protection of the Armed Forces turned out to be easier than
expected.
The first clandestine transit area to be exposed was located in the village of Las Delicias, municipality of Caridad, Valle. That point
connects through the Guajiniquil river to the municipality of Concepción de Oriente , department of La Unión , in Salvadoran
lands.
The blind pass is about a 25-minute walk from the dry canal via a dirt road that is in good condition.

During the tour, on the Honduran side, we advanced without any problem on foot to the Guajiniquil River, which at this time of year
looks like a ravine full of puddles.

Along the way, a few scattered houses could be seen, but the Honduran military presence was nowhere to be found, only two men were
found who assured that they were in the area to fish.

Ante la ausencia de las autoridades se decidió cruzar por ese punto ciego, el paso es sumamente sencillo, bastó ir saltando algunas
piedras y en menos de dos minutos ya estábamos en tierras cuscatlecas.
Platicando en el corredor de una humilde vivienda verde se encontró a dos militares salvadoreños que cuidan su territorio.
La calamidad del lugar resultó evidente, un par de ollas viejas en un improvisado fogón, varios platos de plástico embarrados de
frijoles y arroz, cáscaras de huevo y envoltorios dispersos por el terreno.
La vivienda medio despedazada no tenía baños, solo tenía levantados unos improvisados nailons negros para evitar que los militares
queden a la intemperie al bañarse o realizar sus necesidades fisiológicas.
Durante la pandemia del covid-19, el presidente de El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, ordenó la militarización de toda la frontera con Honduras para evitar que catrachos pasaran a su tierra y propagaran el
virus.
El equipo de LA PRENSA Premium comentó que realizaba un recorrido por los puntos ciegos para verificar la presencia de militares
hondureños que impidieran el paso de pandilleros de su territorio.
Luego de pedir documentos, tomar fotos y enviarlas a sus superiores, los uniformados explicaron que desde la pandemia el presidente
salvadoreño Nayib Bukele ordenó que se militarizara la frontera con Honduras por temor a contagios de covid-19.
Desde ese entonces, en cada kilómetro hay una casa o espacio con presencia de soldados, “no fue por los pandilleros, esto ya estaba,
pero del lado hondureño nosotros que caminamos por todo aquí no miramos personal militar ni en la pandemia, peor ahora”.
El soldado comentó que debido a su presencia los pandilleros tienen un poco más de cuidado al momento de pasar a Honduras, pues
saben que van a ser detenidos, pero al cruzar el río ellos no pueden hacer nada, solo ver cómo se internan en tierras catrachas.
