Chapter 3

Methodology

The four purposes of this chapter are to (1) describe the research methodology

of this study, (2) explain the sample selection, (3) describe the procedure used in

designing the instrument and collecting the data, and (4) provide an explanation of the

statistical procedures used to analyze the data.

Research Design

This study will utilize descriptive type of research. Descriptive research is

conclusive in nature, as opposed to exploratory. This means that descriptive research

gathers quantifiable information that can be used for statistical inference on your target

audience through data analysis. As a consequence this type of research takes the form

of closed-ended questions, which limits its ability to provide unique insights.

(Penwarden, 2014).

As such, a survey will be conducted in order to gather all the necessary

information for this study. The researchers find it very effective to utilized survey as a

tool for the investigation of this study (Rossi, Wright, and Anderson, 1983).

Research Locale
The researchers in the course of the study had chosen to conduct this research

at Dolores Hotel located in the General Santos City. This is the newest hospitality

establishment in the city that is starting to be patronized by lots of people.

Respondents of the Study

The researchers will utilize respondents coming from the customers of Dolores

Hotel in General Santos City. The researchers will utilize fifty (50) respondents which

include the regular and those customers who just pass by the city and checked in at the

hotel. These respondents will be randomly selected.

According to Wells (2015), research respondents are people who agree to take

part in a research project such as a survey. For example, if you complete a

questionnaire about your working life, and then send it back to a student or academic

who uses it to gain information about working life in your particular sector, you will be a

research respondent.

Research Instrument

Survey questionnaires will be distributed among the respondents in order to

gather their responses and will serve as the data for the research. As such, this

questionnaire will be prepared by the researchers and will be validated by the adviser.

The researchers will utilize this instrument in order to gather all the necessary data

needed for the study. Through this, responses will be determined according to the

questions included in the instrument. With the data, analysis will follow and then the

presentation.
Data Gathering Procedures

In collecting the information and data for this study, the researchers will conduct

a leg working in order to identify how many respondents can be possible interviewed.

Likewise, a letter of permission will be submitted to the management of Dolores Hotel in

order for the researchers to conduct the study.

Then, survey questionnaires will be distributed among the respondents of the

study. Analysis of the data will follow and interpretations of the collected data will be

provided using statistical treatment. Graphical presentation will also be provided

together with tabular data and description.

Statistical Treatment

The formula is:

P= F/N * 100%

Where:

P= percentage

F= frequency

N= total number of respondents

100 is the constant multiplier

Weighted Mean (WM) = total weighted frequency/ total number of respondents
