TEXLIM Surge Arresters are used for
the protection of switchgear,
transformers and other equipment
in high voltage systems against
atmospheric and switching
overvoltages. TEXLIM is an ideal
choice when lightning intensity,
energy capability and mechanical
demands are high – especially suited
for extreme seismic zones.

TEXLIM Metal Oxide Surge Arrester
ABB’s family of composite-tube arresters
TEXLIM offers an ideal alternative to traditional TEXLIM surge arresters are designed to perform
porcelain-housed arresters. High mechanical under severe environmental conditions. They are
strength in combination with the polymeric best suited for applications with high mechanical
housing, gives a good combination of performance. strength demands, high seismic requirements, or
sea salt, soot or acid rain and other such harsh
The newly developed family of TEXLIM includes 3 environments. Applications include:
new types of surge arresters: Q, P and T. They have • Protection of substation equipment
been optimized to fulfill the market requirements • Loads requiring high mechanical strength
in the voltage segment 123 - 800 kV and can meet • Seismic areas
requirements of specific applications where higher • Polluted areas
mechanical loads are demanded. • Transformers and reactors
• Capacitor banks

TEXLIM Metal Oxide Surge Arrester
Benefits
For satisfactory performance, it is important that
the units are hermetically sealed for the lifetime of
the arresters. The sealing arrangement at each end
of the each unit consists of a pre-stressed stainless
steel plate with a rubber gasket against the inner
surface of the flanges and ensures effective sealing
even if the gasket “set” due to aging. It also serves
to fix the column of blocks in the longitudinal
direction by means of heavy spring washers.
