First Day January 12, 2022

This is our first meeting in this subject. I felt really nervous because we have a new subject as well as
new professor. I felt that way because I have this kind of mindset that if its related to English or
communication the professor were quite strict. I think of that right away. I don’t know why, but maybe
because of my experience.

However, deep inside me, I know that I need to face this subject, Business Communication because I
know that it can help me to improve my communication skills. And also as a student that taking the path
of business industry, this subject will greatly help me in the future.

I’ m hoping that in this subject, we can have a great and smooth discussion for this whole semester. I
also hope that I can widen my knowledge and improve my skills while still enjoying our discussion in
class.

Second Day January 15, 2022

Saturday, our second that we met Ma’am Chavez and also last meet for this month because we can’t
meet her for two weeks because of the academic health break that implemented by the government
that will imply for two weeks starting January 17 – 29, 2022. The class will resume in the first week of
February.

She discussed our grading system of this subject, Business Communication. She also discussed the
contents of our syllabus. She also gave our first and second assignments. The first were introduction of
our classmates and the second were about the challenges that we face today. I’m exciting in this class
because I really want to improve my communication skills and with the help of this subject I can achieve
that goal, but unfortunately, we suspended our lesson because of the break.

Ma’am Chavez gives us some basic knowledge that we will tackle in this subject. In business
communication, those audiences outside are called investors, customers or clients, governments and
the other outside the organization and those internal are employees that the foundation of the
organization. There are also various media communication that are used inside the organization when
they are communicating such as internet, gadgets, and applications like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok,
and many more that they can used to advertise their product and services.

Third Day February 2, 2022

February 2, 2022, Wednesday, we resume our class after academic health break that implemented by
the government because of the sudden increase of covid cases that happened in our country. We start
our class by presenting our assignment given before the academic health break implemented two weeks
ago, so we’re given enough time to prepare for this activity. We start with introduction of our
classmates. I and my partner, Mhica were assigned as the number 16 presenter, so in this day we are
not included on the students that presenting.

When some of the groups presenting, our professor gives comments and feedback on their
presentation. She corrects the mistake that have been made by the students. She corrects the grammar,
structure of the sentence, the proper word to use, and many more. She also included the parts of
speech which are nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and
interjections, and on how to use it properly in a sentence. Part of Speech can be defined as the "building
blocks" of the language. Think of them like the parts of a house. When we want to build a house, we use
concrete to make the foundations or base. We use bricks to make the walls. We use window frames to
make the windows, and door frames to make the doorways. And we use cement to join them all
together. Each part of the house has its own job. And when we want to build a sentence,  we use the
different types of word.

Everyone should understand that correcting your grammar or words by other people specially if they
want good to you is not wrong. Everyone can make a mistake just like you, so you should appreciate the
other’s opinion. And I really appreciate our professor’s opinion because she gives us a proper knowledge
on how we can utilize the words in a sentence or phrase properly and successfully so that we can convey
our thoughts and the listeners or audiences can comprehend what we want to say.

Fourth Day February 5, 2022

Our following meeting were continuation of our activity which is introduction of classmates. As the
presentation continues, we observed that there are some grammatical errors. Our professor continues
to patiently correct our mistakes. I can say that in our section, all of us did their best, but of course we
still make a mistakes. I believe that it’s part of studying, that’ why we have our professor to guide us on
what we should do. I also noticed that everyone of us are developing, we know what we did wrong and
we correcting it based on our understanding.

Studying parts of speech enables us to broaden our communication skills, whether verbal or written.
Grammar serves as the blueprint for languages. Parts of speech expand a person's grammatical
vocabulary and ability in order to succeed in the oral and spoken forms of a typical language's grammar.
Part of speech is essential in communication because without it, we can produce a good sentence that
we can use in communicating.

I know that we all struggling in making English sentences or phrase because it’s not our mother tongue,
but still English is our secondary language that we can use in our daily life and also have significant role
in our future. So, we need to our best every meeting in this class because it can help us in the future.

Fifth Day February 9, 2022

Learning and determining which category a word belongs to may be immensely important in sending a
clear message to an audience or interpreting a message that has been delivered to you.

If the incorrect section of speech is used, the message is ambiguous, and the recipient must try to figure
out what the sender of the message meant. The elements of speech are required if you wish to have a
relatively clear conversation with others and avoid misunderstandings.

Knowing and comprehending the parts of speech in English communication, as well as becoming
confident in their usage, will boost your comprehension greatly. After all, communication is used in
everything that you do, so knowing this thing were greatly helpful, especially for us students.

Sixth Day February 12, 2022

Learning English grammar helps students to acquire skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Without the knowledge of grammar, students cannot speak or write English correctly. Grammar plays a
vital role in the learning any language.
Grammar is the base of the English language and it is a fundamental part of learning English grammar in
the classroom. The English were divided into four key skills such as: speaking and listening, writing,
reading and literature and language to help students learn in a proper way.

Grammar is the base of English language and it has its place in language learning. It also helps the
students learn and do well in other subjects that are taught in English. It is also essential for
understanding English as a second language that has so many benefits in their life. The learning of
grammar from school has helped the students to acquire four literary skills that lay the foundation for
good communication. Without the knowledge of grammar, the students would be handicapped like a
bird with broken wings.

Seventh Day February 16, 2022

It is a good idea to work hard on your English because it is a great asset. We could use what we've learnt
in the future whether working or vacationing abroad. Many people can converse in Basic English, but I
feel that speaking English fluently is preferred for efficient discussion.

Parts of speech are employed to form phrases, sentences, and complete essays in a number of ways.
Understanding how we put those words together, where we put them, what order we put them in, and
whether or not we know any prefixes or suffixes they require when used as specific parts of speech—all
of this is essential for coherent communication.

The goal of most writing is to be clear. We wish to communicate in an open, honest and straightforward
manner. We can compose a better sentences or phrases if we know what word to use. Learning the
functions of each part of speech is really essential. With the help of knowledge by learning part of
speech, we can recognize how a word’s meaning and functions change when it is use in different
purpose.

Eight Day February 19, 2022

This day, February 19, 2022, Saturday is the day that I and my partner were assigned to present our
assignment. I kind of felt nervous because I really don’t want when it’s come to communication or public
speaking. It’s one of my fear that’s why I felt really nervous that time. I know that I’m not that great in
speaking, especially when it comes to English. And I’m also scared to corrected in public because I don’t
want to be judge by others.

While presenting, I felt at ease as I speak because my professor was really listening on what we, my
partner is saying. We finished our presentation with ease. And I believe that we make a good
accomplishment. Our professor complimented us and our presentation. We even got a good grade and I
felt very relieved about that. Our professor even gave us some corrections and feedbacks in a good way.
My nervousness flew away, and I felt really relieved. It even boosts my confidence.

I believe that it is really great when someone really listening to you attentively when your speaking.
Because you will have noticed that you really doing great when they give you corrections and feedbacks
because with the help of their opinions, you can correct your mistakes.

Ninth Day February 23, 2022

This is last batch for presenting our first activity which is introduction of classmates. I learned really a lot
in just one activity. I learned how to choose and use word successfully and appropriately in a sentences
or phrases. Grammar is the foundation of the English language and has a position in language
acquisition. It also helps pupils study and perform well in other disciplines taught in English. It is also
necessary for comprehending English as a second language, which has several advantages in their lives.

Understanding how grammar works while writing or speaking is crucial. While excellent grammar
knowledge will not turn you into a wonderful writer or speaker, it is widely acknowledged that it will
help you write and communicate more effectively.

Punctuation is an important part of grammar that should not be disregarded. When used correctly, it
can serve to clarify meaning; nevertheless, when used incorrectly, it can generate confusion.
Punctuation also serves as a guide for the reader, informing them when to halt and what to emphasize.
Punctuation gives an important grammatical overview and will assist us in enriching our work.
Punctuation is necessary for communicating and clarifying the meaning of written text. Simple
punctuation marks like a full stop or a comma are utilized, as well as more advanced ones like
semicolons and hyphens. Punctuation mistakes may radically change the meaning of a sentence.

Tenth Day February 26, 2022

Saturday, February 26, 2022 is the last day of writing in our journal before submitting it on Monday. We
studied part of speech, but we don’t have enough time so we only discuss 5 of it, which are noun,
pronoun, adverb, verb, and adjective.

In English, words can be categorized according to their common syntactic function in a sentence, the job
they perform. We call these different categories Parts of Speech. Understanding the various parts of
speech and how they work has several compelling benefits for students. Parts of speech are the core
building blocks of grammar. To understand how a language works at a sentence and a whole-text level,
we must first master parts of speech.

Nouns are naming words, and, as most school kids can recite, they are the names of people, places,
and things.

These categories are:

1. Common Nouns – are the general names of people, places, and things. They are groups or
classes on their own, rather than specific types of people, places, or things such as we find in
proper nouns.
2. Proper Nouns – are the specific names for people, places, and things. Unlike common nouns,
which are always lowercase, proper nouns are capitalized. This makes them easy to identify in a
text.
3. Concrete Nouns – are any noun that can be experienced through one of the five senses. In other
words, if you can see, smell, hear, taste, or touch it, then it’s a concrete noun.
4. Abstract Nouns – refer to those things that can’t be experienced or identified through the five
senses.
5. Collective Nouns – are the name of a group of people or things. That is, a collective noun always
refers to more than one of something
6. Countable Nouns – are nouns that refer to things that can be counted. They come in two
flavors: singular and plural.
7. Uncountable Nouns – also known as mass nouns, uncountable nouns are, as their name
suggests, impossible to count.

Pronouns are used in place of a specific noun used earlier in a sentence. They are helpful when the
writer wants to avoid repetitive use of a particular noun such as a name.

These categories are:

1. Subject Pronouns – are the type of pronoun most of us think of when we hear the
term pronoun. They operate as the subject of a verb in a sentence. They are also known as
personal pronouns.
2. Object Pronouns – operate as the object of a verb, or a preposition, in a sentence. They act in
the same way as object nouns but are used when it is clear what the object is
3. Possessive Pronouns – indicate ownership of a noun.
4. Reflexive Pronouns – are used in instances where the object and the subject are the same.
5. Intensive Pronouns – can be used to indicate emphasis.
6. Demonstrative Pronouns – can stand alone in a sentence.
7. Interrogative Pronouns – are used to form questions.

Adverbs are defined as those words that modify verbs, but they do so much more than that. They can
be used not only to describe how verbs are performed but also to modify adjectives, other adverbs,
clauses, prepositions, or entire sentences.

There are five main types of adverbs these are:

1. Adverbs of Manner – describe how or the way in which something happens or is done.
2. Adverbs of Time – indicate when something happens.
3. Adverbs of Frequency – are concerned with how often something happens.
4. Adverbs of Place – describe where something happens or where it is.
5. Adverbs of Degree – express the degree to which or how much of something is done.

Verbs are the words we use to represent both internal and external actions or states of being. Without
a verb, nothing happens.

There are five main types of verbs these are:

1. Dynamic Verbs – or action verbs describe the physical activity performed by the subject of a
sentence.
2. Stative Verbs – refer to states of being, conditions, or mental processes.
3. Transitive Verbs – takes a direct object after it.
4. Intransitive Verbs – does not take a direct object after it.
5. Auxiliary Verbs – also known as ‘helping’ verbs, work with other verbs to affect the meaning of a
sentence.
The job of an adjective is to modify a noun or a pronoun. It does this by describing, quantifying, or
identifying the noun or pronoun. Adjectives help to make writing more interesting and specific.
Usually, the adjective is placed before the word it modifies.

There are eight main types of adjectives these are:

1. Descriptive Adjectives – tell us something about the quality of the noun or pronoun in question.
2. Degrees of Adjectives – have three degrees to express varying degrees of intensity and to
compare one thing to another. These degrees are referred to as positive, comparative,
and superlative. The positive degree is the regular form of the descriptive adjective when no
comparison is being made. The comparative degree is used to compare two people, places, or
things. The superlative degree is typically used when comparing three or more things to denote
the upper or lowermost limit of a quality.

3. Quantitative Adjectives – provide information about how many or how much of the noun or

pronoun.
4. Demonstrative Adjectives – identifies or emphasizes a noun’s place in time or space.
5. Possessive Adjectives – show ownership, and they are sometimes confused with possessive
pronouns.
6. Interrogative Adjectives – ask questions, and, in common with many types of adjectives, they
are always followed by a noun.
7. Proper Adjectives – as the adjective form of proper nouns
8. Articles – help us determine a noun’s specification.
