Course  Requirements  
 
 
I.   REQUIRED  READINGS:  A  complete  outline  for  the  entirety  of  the  course  
listing  codal  provisions  and  cases  shall  be  made  available  by  the  start  of  
classes.    
 
Suggested  references:    
•   Rodriguez,  Rufus,  The  Law  on  Transportation  (4th  Edition)  
•   Aquino,  Timoteo  B.  &  Hernando,  Ramon  Paul,  Notes  and  Cases  on  
the  Law  of  Transportation  and  Public  Utilities  (Latest  Edition)  
 
II.   GRADE  DISTRIBUTION

III.   RECITATION  GUIDELINES  
 
A.   Students   shall   be   responsible   for   knowing,   understanding,   and   in  
appropriate   instances,   memorizing   the   assigned   codal   provisions.   All  
students  are  therefore  expected  to  be  able  to  recite  the  assigned  
codal  provisions  every  class  meeting.    
 
B.   Recitation   on   case   assignments   shall   be   designated   to   groups   of  
students  based  on  the  schedule  given  out  at  the  start,  supervised  by  the  
class  beadles  elected  by  the  class.  The  class  shall  be  divided  into  four  
groups.   While   the   use   of   powerpoint   presentations   is   laudable,  
students   must   be   able   to   report   cases   even   in   their   absence   or  
when  technical  difficulties  occur.    
 
C.   Students,  while  given  cases  to  recite,  are  responsible  for  reading  
and   understanding   all   other   cases   in   the   course   outline   and  
handouts.    
 
D.   Each  group  of  students  assigned  to  report  cases  are  responsible  to  all  
other  classmates.  No  excuses  for  non-­reporting  shall  be  accepted.  If  a

group  members  is  unable  to  come,  the  other  case  report  group  members  
must  be  able  to  take  over  the  reporting  of  the  cases.    
 
E.   Reporting  of  cases  shall  be  done  in  conjunction  with  the  subject  
matter  in  the  syllabus.  Hence,  as  a  general  rule,  case  reporting  shall  
focus   on   facts   and   their   application   to   the   law.   Issues   in   case  
reporting  shall  be  factual  and  NOT  “grave  abuse  of  discretion”  or  
“lack  of  jurisdiction”  unless  warranted  by  the  issue  in  the  syllabus.    
 
Other  topics,  especially  those  dealing  with  other  legal  subjects  such  as  
remedial  law,  etc.  should  no  longer  be  discussed  to  save  time,  and  in  
order  to  concentrate  on  the  assigned  topic.    
 
 
IV.   GUIDELINES  FOR  THE  ADDITIONAL  REQUIREMENTS  
 
A.   Each  student  shall  in  his  OWN  HANDWRITING:  
 
Digest  fifty  (50)  selected  cases,  to  be  submitted  on  or  before  the  last  
class  day  before  the  final  exam.  A  list  of  cases  shall  be  given  at  the  
start  of  the  semester.    
 
a)   Must  be  written  on  SPIRAL  NOTEBOOK  8/12  x  11  inches  
(216  x  280  mm)  and  PROPERLY  PAGED,  WITH  TABLE  
OF   CONTENTS.   EACH   CASE   DIGEST   must   be   written  
SEPARATELY  in  at  least  two  (2)  to  three  (3)  pages  each.  
Alternative  media  should  be  yellow  legal  pad,  intermediate  
ruled   pad,   and/or   bond   paper   for   those   in   areas   without  
access  to  school  supply  stores.  
b)   The   digested   cases   must   be   COMPLETE,   and   in   the  
person’s  own  handwriting.    
 
B.   Non-­compliance  strictly  with  any  of  the  foregoing  requirements  even  in  
the  minutest  detail  shall  result  in  its  being  treated  as  not  being  submitted  
at  all.  No  late  submission  will  be  accepted.  Remember,  these  additional  
requirements   shall   comprise   20%   of   your   final   grade   if   you   choose  
Option  2.  
 
C.   These   requirements   must   be   submitted   through   the   class   beadle.  
Submission   to   any   other   persion   or   office   shall   be   treated   as   non-­
compliance.    
 
 
V.   EXERCISE  OF  OPTION  
 
Non-­submission  of  the  additional  requirements  in  full  and  in  
compliance  with  the  guidelines  will  be  construed  as  a  choice  for  
Option  1.

VI.   ATTENDANCE  
 
Attendance   shall   be   checked   by   the   beadles.   Refer   to   the   AUSL  
Students  Handbook  for  the  rules  on  attendance.  Regularly  check  the
