Salvation, first and foremost, is the work of God per se. From the beginning, his work of
salvation is already at work starting from the Proto-evangelium at the book of Genesis when he
promised to send the promised woman whose offspring shall have enmity with the evil one.
From time immemorial, God has planned for us salvation because of his great love and mercy
towards humankind. Then he sent, in the fullness of time the promised Messiah, his only-
begotten Son into the world to redeem and save us from the chains of sin and death.

But salvation does not come free. In the darkness of our lives, God calls us to conversion
of heart. Salvation has been preached and has been proclaimed throughout the ages by
distinguised leaders of the people. But this salvation does not come to us automatically but it
comes with a change of heart. The perfect work of salvation of God should be incarnated in the
life and works of humankind. For as Saint Paul says in his letter to the Thessalonians, “we are
not in the dark but we are in the light”, therefore we must live in the light while waiting for the
coming of God’s salvation. Salvation is manifested in our every day lives. It is manifested in our
daily tasks and works. The Lord comes to us everyday in varied ways. Salvation must be look
upon as something that is to come and something that we have to wait for at the end of time. For
salvation is also, the visitation of God. This visitation comes to the present and the present
belongs to us that is why we have to be watchful and vigilant. Vigilance and Watchfulness are
the characteristics of those who want to see the Lord and be saved.

Salvation is achieved, not only with one individual person. But, as we wait for the Lord,
we are called to imitate the way of the Triune God. Towards salvation, we have to live in
community, united with one another, encouraging one another, as Saint Paul exhorts the people
of Thessalonians. It is through walking with the community that we are able to love. For it is
through love, imitating the Triune Majesty, that we can achieve salvation.
