 Explain how the non- invasive pain relief modalities such as acupressure, relaxation techniques,
imagery and massage use for patients pain management.
 Differentiate among the different types of pain (somatic, cutaneous, visceral, referred, ischemic,
acute, and chronic).
SLEEP AND REST
2. Describe the stages of sleep and how they are related to the sleep cycle.
 What age-related sleep variations would you need to consider when assessing the sleep habits of
neonates, infants, toddlers, and the elderly?
 State the outcomes that sleep deprivation may have on an individual.
 Discuss nursing interventions that promote comfort, rest, and sleep.
