Electrostatics has its own uses and at the same time dangers too.
There are many industrial uses of static electricity. These make use of both
repulsion of like charges, and attraction of opposite charges.
At the same time flow of static charges also leads to a lot of dangers.

Discuss the various applications and dangers of electrostatics and also

the safety precautions to be taken in such scenarios. Do cite the referred

Answer. Electrostatic shock happens when you are electrically charged. It normally happens
when you touch an object or surface. It is the build up of electric charge on the surface of
objects. When you walk on vinyl floor, you get charged up because of friction. It is the
imbalance of protons and electrons.

There are various applications if electrostatic shocks. They can be used in pollution control.
Applying a static charge to dirt particles in the air and collect the charged particles. Factories
use static electricity to reduce the amount of smoke from smokestacks. They give the smoke an
electric charge. Once it passes the electrodes of the opposite charge, most of the particles cling
to the electrodes. The helps reduce the pollution. The are also helped in air fresheners. They do
the same way as pollution control. The charged dust is attracted. Since charged particles stick to
neutral surfaces, some of them can stick to the wall near the ionizer. They help in painting cars.
Some automobile manufacturers use static electricity to help paint the cars. First, they prepare
the car’s surface. Then they give the paint and electrical charge and spray paint into the booth.
The charges paint particles are attracted to the car. Once the paint dries, it sticks to the car and
it is more smoother. Static electricity is helpful in areas. Many industries use it to reduce

pollution which is important. They are used in cars which is amazing how they make sure paint
sticks the car.

There are a lot of dangers of electrostatics. Lightnings are caused by static electricity. It is
dangerous if there is flammable gases or a high concentration of oxygen. A spark could ignite
the gases and cause an explosion. It is dangerous if you touch something with a large electric
charge on it. The charge can flow through your body and cause an electric shock. This can cause
burns and make your heart stop. A person can die from this.

We need to take some safety precautions to avoid the electrostatic shock. The first precaution
id to make sure all you electrical Cables/appliances are not near water. Make sure they are not
touched by water. Make sure all electrical appliances are clean, do not buy from a non-trusted
brand. Make sure you know what you are using. Make sure that the appliances are clean. Do
not plug too many plugs into one outlet as it cause a shock. Do not cut wires and do not harm
the appliances/cables. Avoid open-circuit voltage as it can cause electric shock.
