l. Recognizing the importance of looking at the future of education in the country

and to establish a more holistic and comprehensive approach to planning, the
Department of Education (DepEd) formulated the Baslc Educatlon Developmeat Plan
IBEDPI 2O3O.

2. The BEDP is the Department's first long-term plan for basic education covering
all formal education from Kindergarten (K), Elementa4r, Junior High School (JHS), to
Senior High School (SHS), as well as nonforma-l education through tJle Alternative
Learning System (ALS). It shall provide a strategic roadmap geared towards improving
the delivery and quality of basic education by addressing the immediate impacts of the
pandemic on learning and participation, close the remaining access gaps, confront the
issue on education quality, and anticipate the future of education and introduce
innovations in fostering resiliency and embedding the rights of children and the youth
in education.
3. As part of its implementation, Planning Service will lead the conduct of the
Olftctal Launch ofthe Baslc Educatlon Development Plaa 2O3O on June 3,2022,
from l:3O to 4:3O p.m. wtthtn the Natloaal Capttal Reglon. The program will be in
hybrid format and will be livestreamed through the DepEd Philippines Ollicial Facebook
Page and will be crossposted to DepEd Regional Pages. The program aims to present
the BEDP to the DepEd stakeholders, as well as garner support and commitment in its
implementation.

4. DepEd officials from tJle central oflice, regional oflices, and representatives from
schools division offices, and elementar5r and secondar5r schools are invited to participate
in the offrcial launch of the Basic Education Development Plan. External Education
Partners will also be invited to attend the activity. Other DepEd personnel can also
participate in the activity through the Facebook livestream.
