The document provides a sample activity for teaching income computation using explicit instruction. It includes an example problem for the teacher to demonstrate ("I do"), a similar problem for the teacher and students to work through together ("We do"), and an independent problem for students to solve themselves ("You do"). The sample activity covers computing total income from sales of various goods with given prices and quantities sold.

Content/competency/ies Compute income from sales covered Sample problem A store sells aluminum screws @ 1 peso per screw. After a day’s sale, they had sold a total of 100 screws. Compute for the total income from sales. To do for “ I do “ Show the formula: (teacher) total number of units sold x multiply by selling price of each unit = Total income from sales
Show the operation:
100 aluminum screws (sold for the day)
x 1 – price (in pesos) per screw Php 100 – total sales
Answer :
$100 – total sales for a day on
aluminum screws
To do for “ We do “ A paint store sells a variety of industrial paints and
(learner & teacher) brushes. After a day’s work, the store sold a total of 5 pint size of paint @ 50 pesos per can and 10 brush @ 10 pesos per brush. Compute for the total income from sales.
The teacher (with minimum assistance offered) let the
learner do the process; presentation of formula, actual computation and showing the final answer. To do for “You do” Problem: (learner) A well-known hardware sells construction materials. In a day’s sale, they have sold 10 bags of cement @ 200 pesos per bag, 5 bags of sand @ 75 pesos per bag and 5 cans of 1 gallon paint @ 500 pesos per can. Compute for the total income from sales.
In this, the learner should do all the processes. If in case
he was not be able to finish or get the correct answer, the teacher may consider to assist the learner, explain again the details on hand and show the whole process again. This part can be considered it as another practice or “We do”….later present a new problem for the learner to show his mastery of the process. EPP sub-component Home Economics
