Competitive advantage of Vietnam's tourism industry

Vietnam's labor market is extraordinarily big, with a population of about 98 million people.
Tourism is the most labor-intensive of all service industries, not only in the industry but also in
society. Vietnam is a vast country with a young population that is quite high in comparison to the
rest of the world and the area. This labor market can provide a large number of human resources
for the tourism industry.

The nature of tourism is a "dynamic" industry, associated with the movement of tourists.
Therefore, the role of transportation in the tourism development of a country cannot be denied. A
country with an advantage in transportation means that it has a rather large advantage in terms of
tourism development potential. First of all, the civil aviation industry with the type of transport
has the highest number of tourists using both long and short routes compared to other modes of
transport. The air transport system across the country currently has 4 national airlines, namely
Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways and 63 foreign airlines
exploiting to Vietnam. It is a sign for a more vibrant air transport market in the future. In
addition, there is an airport system including 22 airports, including 10 international ports and 12
domestic ports (UK, T., 2019). Thus, compared to previous years, domestic and foreign tourists
have more choices for air transport services.

Information and communication industry

In fact, Vietnam's information and communication technology infrastructure has made

remarkable progress in recent years. According to the Ministry of Information and
Communications of Vietnam, by 2020, Vietnam has more than 75 enterprises providing
telecommunications services licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications. High
access speed, competitive usage fees have met everyone's demand for phone and internet use.
Vietnam reached 71 million Internet users, accounting for two-thirds of the country's population.
This is also the year that Vietnam's Internet traffic grew strongly with more than 40% (Tu, A.,
2022). It can be said that advances in information technology have given Vietnam tourism
certain advantages in the tourism business. Grasping the advantages that telecommunications and
Internet advancements bring, many tourism businesses in Vietnam have invested in e-marketing
projects, building websites providing information about tourist destinations, tourism product
packages, and deploying online tour booking services as well as promoting customer care
through the means of communication by phone and the Internet. Besides, many other high-end
technology product packages have also been put into application by some high-star hotels to
serve the working and entertainment needs of customers.
