Dogs have traditionally been humans' best pals. However, humans are not the
only ones who like dating. Cats are many people's best friends. Despite what dog fans
may believe, cats make terrific pets because they are good companions, civilized family
members, and easy to care for. Allow me to explain why. Cats make excellent
companions. They cuddle up and demand to be caressed or scratched under the chin,
and who can resist a throaty cat? When they aren't feeling loved, cats are usually rather
playful. They enjoy chasing feathers and balls. When the cat gets tired of chasing a laser
pointer, it curls up in your lap and sleeps. Cats make excellent roommates.

Cats are also civilized roommates. Unlike dogs, cats do not bark or make other

loud noises. Most cats don't meow very often. Cats usually do not cause accidents.
Mother cats teach kittens how to use the litter box, but most cats always use the litter
box from that point on. Cats have claws, but tall scratch sticks in the cat's favorite area
of the house often discourage cats from leaving furniture alone. Compared to other
pets, cats are very polite. 

The cats are easy to care for. They don't need to exercise because they do a lot of

exercise around the house while playing. Even cleaning the toilet can be quick and
painless. Cats also groom themselves. Under normal circumstances, cats take care
of themselves, so bathing is rarely necessary. Cats are so easy to care for that
you can stay home alone for hours without fear. 

Cats are civilized companions with little maintenance. People with a small

living space appreciate having a cat. People who don't have much time to care for their
pets appreciate having a cat. But even people who have a lot of time and space love
cats, so they choose cats. Cats make ideal pets in many ways.
