The striking line for me while

reading Canto is the line
“the temple is holy because
it is not for sale”. As a
Christian with religion and
beliefs, this line really strikes
me in the same way how I
feel about faith, for me the
line simply implies that a
thing that is considered to
be priceless can be treated
as something holy or sacred.
I fully agree on what the line
is trying to impart to the
reader, as a person that
believes in a supreme being
and faith to someone that
we donʼt know if it exist, for
me that is a part of me that
makes me a Christian, I
consider it as holy and
sacred and something that
is really important to me.
Nowadays, you can almost
name a price on everything,
everything except faith, love,
and true happiness.
Everything else can be
acquired through money and
material things, things that
are temporary. Ezra included
this line in his poem to show
that a place of worship such
as a temple is not for sale
which means that not
everything can be bought,
everything used to be
sacred, not until the
greediness of mankind
blossomed and named a
price on almost everything.
