I. ABSTRACT
The overall purpose of the experiment investigated is to gain knowledge of
the mechanical properties of cast iron specimen under tension load.

II. INTRODUCTION
III. PROCEDURE
 In step 1, I used Vernier caliper to measure the initial diameter of the
tension test and calculate the initial area.
 In step 2, I used scale to measure the length of the specimen in between
the grips.
 In step 3, I punched mark the specimen at a distance of 2.5 d. to each
other.
 In step 4, I used dial gauge indicator and I adjust the reading into zero while
keeping the specimen on its position.
 In step 5, I conducted the experiment where I read the extensometer
readings at regular intervals of a load. And I also noted the ivory scale
readings.
 In step 6, I used graph to determine the slope of the load vs dial reading
through the computed solution of the following steps.
 In step 7, I joined the two pieces of the test sample and measure the
diameter at neck of the specimen.
 In step 8, I measure the final length in between the three punched in step
3.
 In step 9, I calculated the what is asked through the observation and graph
given.
IV. DATA AND RESULTS
 Through the use of Vernier caliper, I am able to gathered the data of
the following:
dIx = 20.10 mm
diy = 20.10 mm
Average Initial Diameter = 20.1 mm
Initial area = 317.31 mm2
 Through the use of scale, I am able to get the length of specimen.
Length of the specimen between the grips = 190 mm
 I am to get the total diameter distance which is made at 2.5d.
Distance 2.5d = 2.5 x 20.1 = 50.25 mm
 Through the experiment conducted, I am able to gathered the
following data:
 Through the following data in the above table, I am able to determine
the slope of load vs dial reading.

 By joining the two pieces of test sample, I am able to get a result that
the change in diameter is negligible.
 The change final length of three punched marks are negligible.
