EFFECTS OF POWER POINT PRESENTATION ON RETENTION OF THE GRADE 12

GAS STUDENTS IN ROSALES NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION

In this era, technology has given us a big and wide contribution for every one of us that is

connected in our aspects in life. And as for now, the technology is continuously developing since

it was discovered. We can say technology has been so useful especially in any circumstances for

education. For example, the television, it was more modern and much updated than the past few

years. It can use for educational matters because it allows us to insert an USB that is consist of

documents (Microsoft, Power point, Excel and etc.) and also this modern television has wider

screen than before, it helps the viewers to be comfortable and easy to visualize on what they are

watching.

As we enter to the educational matter the most common used of proctors or teachers to

discuss is the Power point Presentation. As we know, Power point is a computer program that

allows us to create and shows slides to have a support; a presentation has greater visual impact

for us. As the modern era came the technology continues from varying in technology that is

helpful in our daily activities.

I. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In this present year, most of the proctors or teachers were looking for a lot of ways and

technique on how they become more efficient to their students. Teachers play an important role

in skills acquisition and meaningful learning. And in this modern era, new technologies has been

widely used and spread worldwide. Government and institutions were already using technical
educations, where they are using high technology as their teaching materials, equipment’s or

apparatus, instead of the usual chalk board, maker boards or books.

Until now, teachers are necessary put into practice for the use of Power point

presentation. Power point is part of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

program developed by Microsoft in 1987. It is an application program of presentation bundled in

Microsoft office (El-lkhan, 2010). It requires as information that has been prepared on a

computer. In using Power point Presentation could be better if it is projected especially for larger

audience for them to see the slides even in a great distance. And as for the observe, the ability of

Power point Presentation includes; spell check, allowing the user to add, to correct some mistake

or errors, make changes to the lessons and finally use for printing copies for personal use

(Teachnology.com,2007). Depending on the percentage in a particular area it can be identify

which is greater thus Power point is useful among any manner of expertise in circumstances of

useful tool. According to the Power point Study, in Power point expertise in companies, there are

11% in profession, 38% in advanced and 40% in basic knowledge while on the other hand the

training offerings in Power point there are 21% in provided extensively, 54% in provided

sufficiently and 25% not provided at all

Over all, this research aims to determine the effectiveness of the Power point Presentation

for students of Rosales National High School, GAS Strand as teaching materials in retention

capabilities and interest to their subject because of the new technologies that has influence

almost people around the world. Technologies are invented for more easily and a useful tool for

teaching in any circumstances that Power point Presentation gives knowledge and efficient in

retaining of any various of studies, Power point presentation are acquired and made to help

viewers or students and teachers to maintain the effectiveness in resenting lessons or helps to be
efficient in teaching. It allows us to analyze simpler and summarized topics that give us big

knowledge.

II.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the reason why students are easy to retain lessons through Power point

Presentation?

2. In what ways does the Power point Presentation entice viewers?

3. What is the purpose of Power point Presentation that is mostly used for discussion?

III.SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study contains information about the benefits of using Power point Presentation on

the retention of GAS Grade 12 students of Rosales National High School and the help of Power

point presentation to the teachers for students to understand the lesson.

To the Students. They will be informed about the use of Power point Presentation and how

helpful Power point is.

To the Teachers. They will have the information on how efficient to use Power point

presentation to discuss a lesson.

To the Future Researchers. This study will help future researchers who will conduct a similar

topic and to improve their research study.
