Problems with Conventional MIS Performance Measure:

Currently, the Management Information System that Lucky Cement Limited employs is SAP on
HANA database. Discussed below are the problems of using SAP HANA which can have a
negative impact on the performance of the company:
1. Due to the frequent SPS updates and releases of refined SAP HANA’s versions, the older
versions become outdated quickly. With a constant rush of innovation, this presents
challenges to company as they have to invest a substantial amount of time and money
updating to the latest version which negatively affects the performance and profitability of
the company.

2. There is an issue reported about SAP HANA server that it shut down at times when there
is heavy data processing and calculation load to it due to this the productivity of the company
can be compromised.

3. Another problem with using SAP HANA is that temporary SAP data that is created on daily
basis loses its value quickly, therefore regular clean-up of temporary data (housekeeping) has
to be done otherwise it would lead to slower response time and affects the daily operations
and performance of the company.

4. A large amount of company's budget is allocated for the maintenance of this MIS system that
causes senior managers to question the economic utility of the MIS investment.
