Revision 00

1. INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the Environment Management Plan is to provide a framework of

procedures required to recognize, address environment management needs of the
project, based on the management measures as part of SOLAS Environment
Management plans for the project. The ESMP (Environment Safety Management Plan)
Identifies key environmental issues related to scope of work and advices the
methodology for containment of the hazardous and non-hazardous waste which shall
comply with the standards set by Environmental regulatory agencies.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

The ESMP covers all those activities within project work areas that lead to potential
environment impacts all sensitive resources and local communities. The works
undertaken covers installation of hydrant system and erection of sprinkler system and
other fire-fighting equipments at well pads for Wells Fargo project and it includes
following activities as given below:

 Erection of structural steel pipesfor hydrant and sprinklerwork.

 Painting work for all sprinkler and hydrant.
 FA/PA system for all Buildings.

3. PURPOSE OF ENVIRONMENT SAFETY MANAGEMENT PLAN

The main objective of developing Environment Management Plan is to mitigate the

environmental impact of fabrication and erection activity which involves use of potential
pollutants of air, water and land i.e. equipment like drilling machines, welding machine,
grinding machine & threading machines and various other materials like paint, thinner,
etc. which are associated with such activities.
SOLAS FIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT (P) LTD is committed to the social and ethical
responsibilities of sustainable development with least harm to the environment and
local habitants. This is in line with the objectives of C&W which has set precedent for
the environment awareness among Indian companies by following the global standards
like BOCW Standard Procedures.

Revision 00

Air & noise quality water conservation management and site restoration procedures
have been incorporated as a part of this plan. A summary of this plan is given below.

1. Waste Management:This gives outline for controlling and improving all identification,
storage, treatment, reuse, recycle, and disposal of the waste and is applicable to all
wastes generated from construction work by SOLAS.

2. Chemical Handling & Spill Prevention Control: Thisgives outline to identify all such
areas and delineate the measures that will be taken to prevent, respond contain and
remediate spills form storage handling and usage of Hazardous materials like oil /
lubricant contaminated filters, cotton rags, and chemical waste from use of paints.

3. Environmental Monitoring:This gives outline for monitoring of noise and air emission
from different sources onsite and performance of the environmental quality. It will also
monitor and demonstrate compliance with usage and disposal standard recycle and
reuse of scarce environmental resources.

4. ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The implementation of this ESMS requires the involvement of several stakeholders each
performing a vital role and to ensure sound environmental management during the
construction phase. The role and responsibilities of the onsite personnel involved in
environmental management have been listed and elaborated under section of the
project HSE plan. The line of responsibility for environmental management during the
construction phase is as per the standards.
Description of individual environment management responsibilities are in consistence
with the Responsibilities section of the project HSE Plan. Additionally the following roles
and responsibilities will be undertaken by respective onsite personnel to ensure
effective implementation of tile ESMP.

4.1Project Manager

 Provide impetus to C&W project Environment Team for effective management of

onsite environmental issues.
 Ensure resources allocation & expedite commissioning of onsite facilities required
to resolve and improve the onsite environmental issues.
 Preside over HSE meeting to discuss the onsite environmental issues and establish a
management action plan to address such issues.

4.2Project EHS Manager

 Preparation necessary advice and support in effective implementation of the

project environmental management plan.
 Provide environmental manager required support for effective implementation of
the environmental training programs.
 To Conduct Environment meetings along with the tool box meetings for increasing
awareness among workers about environmental responsibilities both as a worker
and as a human being.

5. Training and Environment Awareness

Training is an important tool in bringing the behavior change and modification in

thinking processes of employees, for an effective implementation of EMP, before
concluding any training topics, a training need assessment is carried out, which is critical
to understand where the training needs to focus. The training is provided through
C&W/SOLAS training facilities and employees are encouraged to participate in such
programs on a regular basis and based on the employee assessment, training plan is
being developed for further enhancing the awareness.

Environment Training shall be conducted on the following points:

1. General Environmental Awareness.

2. BOCW Act Performance Standards.
3. Construction related environmental impacts and their mitigation measures.

6. Environmental Impact and Control Measures
