REACTION:
A businessman escaped unscathed in a botched robbery hold-up while the three suspects, including
a soldier, were arrested in pursuit operations in Zamboanga Sibugay province, a top police official
said Thursday. Police investigation showed that before the incident, Calago was driving his pick-up
type vehicle with Felix and Ocmer aboard on the way to Barangay Mate to inspect a parcel of land
being sold to him by Jovanie, Larubis said.

This incident should be a lesson for everyone not to just believe the rumors and spread it immediately
even if they don't know where the news came from and if it is true. it is even better not to get involved if
the so -called tsismis is about the family because they are not in the place to interfere.

A division of the Supreme Court upheld

the ruling of a trial court that found a
man guilty for violating the Anti-Violence
against Women and their Children Act
of 2004 for leaving his wife for his
mistress.

REACTION:

Referring on the Information or charge sheet against the husband, the SC noted that it contained
recital of the fact that the wife “sustained emotional anguish and mental suffering” inflicted by
the husband when he had an extramarital affair and had illegitimate children with her.

The SC ruling, penned by Chief

Justice Diosdado Peralta on Sept. 8,
convicted a man who left his wife and
fathered three children with his
mistress. He was sentenced to six
months to eight years in prison and
ordered to pay ₱100,000 as fine and
₱25,000 for moral damages.
The man was found to have violated
Section 5(i) of Republic Act No. 9262
or the Anti-Violence Against Women
and Their Children Act of 2004.
REACTION:
In its decision, the higher magistrate upheld the previous CA ruling because of the wife's "categorical and
straightforward" testimony of suffering mental and emotional anguish from his husband's infidelity. "The
prosecution has established beyond reasonable doubt that (the husband) committed the crime of
psychological violence, through his acts of marital infidelity, which caused mental or emotional suffering
on the part of the wife the SC ruled.
