Self Description Test

What is the Self Description Test?

At Service Selection Boards, the Self Description Test is the final test in the
Psychologist test series. It may be the last test, but it is just as important
as the first. This test confirms the Psychologist's findings of a particular
candidate, which he has made using previous tests such as TAT, WAT, and
SRT.
This test gives the Psychologist an idea of how well the candidate knows
himself, and whether or not he is aware of his own qualities and flaws. In
this test, the candidate must write five paragraphs in 15 minutes about his
parents, teacher or employer, classmates or friends, and the candidate's
own opinion about himself and what qualities he wants to develop in the
future.
How to do well in the SSB self-description test
• Talk to your parents, teachers, friends, and co-workers. Inquire about
people's positive and negative impressions of you.
• Avoid negative emotions such as hypertension, drinking, smoking,
and losing your temper. Negative characteristics such as low
participation skills, public-shyness, introversion, and poor
communication skills, among others, are better examples of negative
traits.
• When describing yourself, be honest and truthful. Never try to hide
any of your qualities from the psychologist; he or she will quickly
figure it out.
• Your Personal Interview will be based on the information you provided
in your Self- Description. Before you enter the interview room, the
interviewing officer will read this to you. He or she will double-check
your self-description by posing a variety of questions based on it. As
a result, be cautious about what you write in it.
• Never copy a self-description from a book or the internet because you
may forget it during your personal interview.
The following are some examples of self-description tests:
Generally, aspirants are required to write the self description test based on
the following:
✓ What are your perceptions of yourself?
✓ What are your parents' thoughts on you?
✓ What do your friends think of you?

Group Planning Exercise (GPE) Samples

We provide 10 Group Planning Exercise or Military Planning Exercise samples

with solutions in this article. This will assist you in comprehending the
fundamentals of GPE as well as how to narrate GPE or MPE in your SSB
Interview. It is the most crucial section of the GTO Tasks. Each of you in your
Group may have a different GPE or MPE solution, and the last one of you
must narrate a common solution that incorporates all of the solutions. The
most important factor in GPE is time management.
What is GPE?
The GTO's first task is a group planning exercise, which should be viewed as
an excellent opportunity to make an impression on the GTO. A group planning
exercise consists of a series of problems designed to bring out all of a
candidate's ‘officer-like qualities,’ which include the ability to lead (the lads),
organize, courage, teamwork, spontaneity, and effective intelligence, among
other things.
Tips & tricks for GPE:
✓ Maintain appropriate body language because it will aid you in group
discussions.
✓ To make your point more effectively, use proper postures and gestures.
✓ Follow the directions on the map to find your location. If you have the
opportunity to tell the story, use direction, distance, time required, and
the appropriate time.
✓ When GTO tells a story, pay close attention and count the number of
problems. It will assist you in remembering the number of issues and
prioritizing them accordingly.
✓ Prioritize your solution; provide the most assistance to the person who
requires it.
✓ Use your resources wisely, and you'll have a better chance of standing
out in your group.
✓ Make a strategy with your group the day before the task. It will assist
you and your group in sticking to a strategy.
✓ Do not interrupt someone who is narrating the conclusion in the middle.
✓ If you believe a member of a group talks excessively or is intimidating
in any way, try to speak with him before the task begins and explain
that the goal is to be recommended rather than to fight.
✓ If you can give a reason for your points, it will be easier for others to
understand you.
✓ To make your point more effectively, use proper postures and gestures.
✓ Always maintain a positive attitude while performing a task; you are
there for a discussion, not a battle.
✓ If you can give a reason for your points, it will be easier for others to
understand you.
✓ Divide the group into groups based on the requirements. More people
should be dispatched to areas where the situation is more precarious.
Now, we go through various samples of GPE.

Sample No.1

Narrative

You are a group of students traveling by minibus from Kalapur to Nimganj,

a nearby district town, to take an exam that begins at 11:15 a.m. After
leaving from the minibus at village Ruppar, you are waiting for the steamer
to cross the River Koyal. Suddenly, a villager approaches you for assistance,
telling you that an old dilapidated haveli on the outskirts of Ruppar has
collapsed, crushing five men, two of whom are seriously injured.
He also claims that while working in his nearby field, he overheard two
terrorists planning to blow up the Railway Bridge on the River Koyal at 10:15
a.m., when Mimganj-Kalapur passengers pass through. He went on to say
that they had gone to village Chara, where they planned to exchange the
contraband they were carrying with another party at Raju Hotel at 10:20
a.m. and devise a plan to destroy a Pontoon Bridge on the River Koyal further
upstream, and that as you were listening to this villager, another shepherd
came running up to you, asking for assistance to put out a fire in his hut
where he stored haystack and fodder for his cattle
The following is some additional information:
• The streamer service runs twice a day and departs for Nimganj at 9:30
a.m.
• The minibus leaves Kalapur at 9:20 a.m. and travels at a speed of 40
kilometers per hour.
• Local communication from Ruppar village is down due to a problem.
• On the River Koyal, the fishery department has one rowing boat with
a capacity of four people. Upstream, the maximum speed is 6 kmph,
and downstream, it is 15 kmph.
• At 10:30 a.m., the down train departs Kalapur and arrives in Nimganj

86 Page |
www.byjusexamprep.com

at 11:00 a.m.
The time is now 9 a.m. As brave young men, what will you do?

Answer

At Ruppar, we are a group of ten students. To give the exam, we must arrive
in Nimganj by 11:15 a.m. We are currently awaiting the arrival of the steamer
and must deal with the following situations in the meantime:
▪ To provide first aid and evacuation to all five people who have been
injured.
▪ To alert and assist authorities in preventing a bomb blast at the
Railway Bridge.
▪ To apprehend terrorists in the village of Chara. We'll take the following
steps to deal with these situations:
➢ Two of us will attend to the injured and borrow a jeep from Ruppar.
The injured will be transported to Kalapur and admitted to the
hospital. Because the distance is 45 kilometers, it will take two hours
to travel and arrive by 10 a.m. In the same jeep, this group will travel
to Chara. The distance is 20 kilometers, and it will take 30 minutes to
reach the fourth group.
➢ In a boat, three of us will cross the river to the other side. We will
then take a car to Nimganj and arrive by 9:15 a.m., having informed
the police station in Mimganj and the railway stations in Nimganj and
Kalapur, so that the Nimganj Kalapur-Passenger train can be delayed.
This group will go to Railway Bridge with the police and bomb squad
to defuse the bomb. Because the distance is 10 kilometers, they will
arrive by 9:30 a.m. in a police jeep.
➢ Two of us will take the boat to the pontoon Bridge and guard it until
the second group of cops and Bob squad arrives. The distance is 6
km, so it will take 12 hours to get there.
➢ At 10:20 a.m., three of us will ride with armed villagers to Chara on
motorcycles to apprehend terrorists from the Raju hotel. The group
will take up position ahead of time, apprehend the criminals, and
hand them over to the police.

Sample No.2

Narrative

You are a group of students who have traveled from Amarpur for a picnic and
are currently staying at the Rest House near the river. After your picnic, you
decided to return to your original location, but the minibus you were riding in
developed a mechanical problem, which will take about an hour to repair. While
you were contemplating the problem, a villager from Tulsi approached you and
informed you that six militants were planning to loot village Kalsi at around
3:30 p.m. while he was on his way to his village.
At 4:00 p.m., two of the same group's miscreants will attempt to kidnap a
wealthy individual in the village of Kali. All six miscreants will return to Kirti after
finishing their work, collect illegal items as planned, and board the train at 4:30
p.m. from the railway station. Meanwhile, a person approaches you and informs
you that he has lost his monkey, which is his primary source of income and asks
for your assistance in relocating the animal. While you were listening to the
villager, a local approached you and informed you that rocks had fallen on the
railway track due to a landslide, and a passenger train is scheduled to depart
from Sherpur railway station at 2:30 pm, posing a risk of a train accident.
There is additional information available below.
• Near RH, there are two boats available.
• Weapons can be found in Kalsi village.
• At a distance of 10 kilometers around the sketch, the district
headquarters and city can be reached.
What will you do now that it is 2:30 p.m.? As brave young students, what will
you do?

Answer

We have a group of ten people, trying to deal with the following issues:
▪ Clearing the railway track and saving the lives of train passengers
88 Page |
www.byjusexamprep.com

▪ Save the person who is about to be kidnapped's life.

▪ Terrorists apprehended
▪ The monkey problem.
It is now 2:30 p.m.; planning will take fifteen minutes, and the understated
course of action will be followed.
Two of us will get in the jeep near the highway and drive straight to the railway
station, where we will report the landslide on the railway track to the railway
authorities.
We'll also notify Sherpur and Lakhanpur Railway Stations, and we'll try to get
the train to Sherpur before 2:30 p.m. The distance between the resthouse and
the railway station is approximately 8 kilometers, which we will cover in 15
minutes. Around 2:25 p.m., the same students will leave for Lakhanpur, where
they will inform the police and other higher authorities about militants around
3:45 p.m., before returning to the rest house.
Simultaneously, four of us will take a jeep off the road and mobilize weapons and
four villagers to move village Kali and save the person who is likely to be
kidnapped by miscreants at 4 p.m. We'll take up position, attack, and apprehend
them while waiting for the cops to arrive, at which point we'll hand over the
criminals to them. Simultaneously, three of us will board the boat and travel to
the village of Kalsi, where we will assist the villagers in any way possible and
complete the task. Following that, we will assemble at the designated location
and return to our original positions.

Sample No.5

You are a group of ten students returning to your doper hostel after a picnic
in Rampur. Your vehicle developed a problem and you left it at a garage near
a petrol pump. Your group decided to take the ferry instead because your
jeep would be repaired by 6 pm. You came to a halt at a tea stall, where one
of your friends discovered a rifle and accidentally fired a bullet, injuring him
in the shoulder. While you were debating what to do, a young boy
approached you, asking for your assistance because his father had broken his
leg after falling from his cart near the wheat fields. As he finished, a man on
a bicycle approached you and informed you that miscreants are hiding in a
shanty village and are planning to remove fish plates from train tracks as well
as blast a train going from Dholpur to Rampur that leaves at 4:45 p.m. and
is scheduled to blow over the bridge at 5:30 p.m.
And because the villagers are afraid of the goons, they are not reporting the
incident to the police. Just as he finished, a woman approached you and
92 Page |
www.byjusexamprep.com

asked for assistance because her cow had become stranded in marshy land
and was her only source of income. It is now 4 p.m., and you must arrive at
the hostel by 7 p.m. You are also informed that a bus from Shampur to
Dholpur departs at 5 p.m. At the ferry, boats are also available. There isn't
a phone or a mobile phone that works. What would you do if you were in this
situation?

Answer
Prioritization:
▪ Person shot with a bullet: reason: he requires immediate assistance
due to excessive bleeding, which is dangerous to him.
▪ A person with a broken leg: the reason is that we have enough time
to deal with the train problem, and the farmer is unable to travel on
his own. He also requires medical assistance.
▪ Because the train is scheduled to depart at 4:45 a.m. and arrive at
the bridge at 5:30 a.m., it is now 4:00 a.m., and we can give this
problem a third priority.
▪ A cow is stranded in a marshy area. Because no human life is involved.
Each problem's solution & subgroup assignment:

and dispatched an ambulance to pick up the person with the broken
leg and transport him to the hospital.
Problem 2: A person with a broken leg is the second issue.
➢ Who: two of us + a cycle + that person's son

him up.
➢ When: at 4:15 p.m.
➢ Where: we'll go from a tea stall to a wheat field.
➢ Using a bicycle and a cart
➢ Time & distance: a 4 km cycle will take approximately 10 minutes,
and we will take him out on his cart in approximately 10 minutes.
➢ Action: We'll take him to a tea shop and wait for an ambulance to
take him to the hospital, where he'll be treated.
93 Page |
www.byjusexamprep.com

Problem 3: train issue.

➢ Who: we are a group of three.
➢ What: One will notify the shanty village police, and the other will
notify a railway employee at a manned railway crossing.
➢ When: 4:15 p.m.
➢ Where: village police station and manned crossing
➢ How: Using villagers' motorcycles or cycles, 1 will travel to the police
station with the assistance of villagers. The other two will run to the
ferry and board a boat to the manned crossing near the temple.

police station in 20 minutes, and two others will cover 3 km in 10
minutes before returning 8 km by boat in 10 minutes, as the current
will assist us.

➢ How: We'll gather resources such as rope, manpower, a few sticks,
and a wooden plank, and use them to pull the cow out.
➢ Time & distance: we'll cover 2 kilometers in 5 minutes and then
gather resources in 10 minutes. And it takes about 30 minutes to get
the cow out.
➢ Action: With the help of the villagers, we will save the cow.
Until 5 p.m. When all issues have been resolved,
➢ We'll all meet at the tea stall at 5:20 p.m. to catch the bus to the
garage, where we'll pick up our jeep and return to the hostel before
7:00 p.m.

participate in a river rafting adventure and assigned to the unit Shakarpur. You had
set up a makeshift camp this morning before the journey to practice on the Rajpur-
Shakarpur canal. "Sir, approximately 10 minutes ago, I was approached by the Post

from TCP at Lanka came hurrying to the camp and said. He also stated that the 3-
ton co-height drivers were somewhat higher than the tunnel. This was a brand new
3-ton truck that was picked up from the Rajpur railway yard. TCP's representative
stated, "All telephone lines, including civil lines, are down." Meanwhile, one of you
yelled loudly that he had forgotten his life jacket at the unit. While you were
pondering your next steps, one of the members of the party who had arrived at the
canal first ran up to you and informed you that one of the boats had capsized and
one of the occupants had consumed a large amount of water, necessitating rapid
evacuation.
