LAW AND AMENDMENT

SC releases draft model rules for live-streaming, recording of proceedings


 Supreme Courts’ e-committee released Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court
Proceedings.
 The rules were released with the aim of bringing greater transparency, inclusivity and access to justice.
 Committee comprised of judges from Bombay High Court (HC), Delhi HC, Madras HC, Karnataka HC
to frame draft live streaming rules. Committee invited inputs, feedback and suggestions on draft rules
from all stakeholders.
 These rules were framed by High Court of Judicature in accordance with Article 225 and Article 227 of
Constitution.

Election Commission of India releases Atlas on 2019 General Elections


 The Election Commission of India on June 15, 2021, released ‘General Elections 2019: An Atlas’.
 Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra along with Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and
Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey released the Atlas.
 This General Election Atlas comprises of all statistical figures and data of General Elections 2019.
 It comprises of 90 tables and 42 thematic maps which depicts different facets of elections.
 It also provides interesting anecdotes, facts and legal provisions related to Indian elections

Delimitation exercise begun in Jammu and Kashmir


 The delimitation exercise has started in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
 The completion of the delimitation exercise will mark the political process in the Union Territory (UT)
that has been under Centre’s rule since June 2018.
 Delimitation is the act of fixing or redrawing the limits or boundaries of territorial constituencies
(Assembly or Lok Sabha seat) in a country or a province having a legislative body, as per the Election
Commission
 The Delimitation Commission is appointed by the President of India and works in collaboration with the
Election Commission of India.
 The Delimitation Commission Act was enacted in 1952.
 Under Article 82, the Parliament enacts a Delimitation Act after every Census.
 Under Article 170, States also get divided into territorial constituencies as per Delimitation Act after
every Census.
 Once the Act is in force, the Union government sets up a Delimitation Commission.
 However, the first delimitation exercise was carried out by the President (with the help of the Election
Commission) in 1950-51.

APPOINTMENT

Justice A.K. Mishra to head National Human Rights Commission


 Mr. Justice Arun Kumar Mishra, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, joined as the new
Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC India.

 He is the 8th Chairperson of the NHRC, India
 He was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 7th July, 2014 and held the position till his
superannuation on 2nd September, 2020.
Anup Chandra Pandey appointed as Election Commissioner
 The Union government has appointed Anup Chandra Pandey as Election Commissioner.
 In the Election Commission, He will have a little under three years in office and will retire in February
2024.
 He has been appointed to the position left vacant by former Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora’s.
 Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar are the other
two members of the panel.

Mawya Sudan becomes IAF’s 1st woman fighter pilot from J&K
 Flying Officer Mawya Sudan has become the first woman from Jammu and Kashmir to be inducted as a
fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
 She is the 12th female fighter pilot to be inducted in the IAF.

Former SC judge Justice Vikramjit Sen was appointed chairman of the newly formed self-regulatory
body (DMCRC)
 Former Supreme Court judge Justice Vikramjit Sen appointed as the Chairman of its newly formed self-
regulatory body Digital Media Content Regulatory Council (DMCRC).
 The appointment is announced by Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF).
 DMCRC is formed as per the mandate of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and
Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

Dr Patrick Amoth of Kenya Appointed as Chair of WHO Executive Board


 Dr Patrick Amoth, the acting Director-General for Health, Ministry of Health of Kenya has been
appointed as the Chairman of World Health Organisation (WHO) Executive Board, for a period of one
year.
 He replaces Union Health Minister, Government of India, Dr Harsh Vardhan, who completed his tenure
as Chairman of WHO Executive Board on June 02, 2021.
 Dr Vardhan will continue to be a member of the Executive Board of WHO till 2023.
 The chairman’s post is held on rotation basis for one year among regional groups.

Vigilance Commissioner Suresh N Patel appointed as acting CVC


 The Vigilance Commissioner, Suresh N Patel has been appointed as the acting Central Vigilance
Commissioner (CVC) of India in the Central Vigilance Commission
 He has been appointed in place of Sanjay Kothari, who completed his term on June 23, 2021.
 He will remain on the post until the appointment of the new Central Vigilance Commissioner.

Satya Nadella appointed as Chairman of Microsoft


 Satya Nadella has been named the new Chairman of Microsoft.
 Presently he was serving as the CEO of the company.
 He will replace John Thompson as the Chairman.

Ebrahim Raisi elected as Iran’s 8th president


 Ebrahim Raisi has been elected as the Iran's eighth president.
 This was confirmed by the country's interior ministry
 He replacing moderate President Hassan Rouhani.

 Naftali Bennett took oath of the prime minister of Israel.
 Bennett was the Former defence minister of Israel cabinet.

World Milk Day is observed every year on 1 June


 June 1, 2021 was celebrated as “World Milk Day”.
 The theme of this day was – “sustainability in the dairy sector with messages on nutrition”.
 World Milk Day is celebrated since 2001.
 It was established by Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations.

Telangana formation day observed every year on 2 June


 June 2 was celebrated as the Telangana formation day.
 On June 2, 2014 Telangana state was separated from the Andhra Pradesh government and retains its
statehood.
 And it was the eighth Telangana formation day.

World environment day observed every year on 5th June


 June 5th was celebrated as the world environment as worldwide.
 This year it was celebrated with the theme of “ecosystem restoration”, which aims to prevent, halt and
reverse the degradation of ecosystems on every continent and in every ocean.
 REIMAGINE. RECREATE. RESTORE are the key words for the celebrations this year.
 The theme was hosted by Pakistan.

June 6 celebrates as UN’s Russian Language Day


 UN Russian Language Day is observed annually on June 6.
 The event was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) in 2010.
 UN Russian Language Day coincides with the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, a Russian poet who is
considered the father of modern Russian language.

World Oceans Day observed on 8 June


 World Ocean Day is observed globally on 8th June every year.
 The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods” is the theme for World Oceans Day 2021,

World Day Against Child Labour observed every year on 12 June


 World Day Against Child Labour Day is also known as Anti Child Labour Day.
 It is observed every year on 12 June.
 The theme of this year's World Day Against Child Labour is: "Act now: end child labour."
 It was reported by UNICEF and International Labour Organization (ILO) this year that the number of
children in child labour has risen to 160 million across the world.
 This is an increase of 8.4 million children in the last four years.

World Blood Donor Day observed on 14 June


 World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14 June to mark the anniversary of Karl Landsteiner.
 The World Blood Day 2021 theme is "Give blood and keep the world beating”.
 It was first celebrated in 2004 to spread awareness about the need for regular blood donations and its
requirement to save lives.

World Refugee Day celebrated on 20 June
 World Refugee Day is observed every year on June 20 to respect and honour the courage and resilience
of refugees across the world.
 This year the theme for World Refugee Day is ‘Together we heal, learn and shine’.
June 21 celebrates as International Day of Yoga
 This year, the 7th International Day of Yoga is celebrated on 21 June.
 The 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 theme is "Yoga for well-being".
 An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General
Assembly (UNGA).
 The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by the current Prime Minister of India, Mr.
Narendra Modi during his speech at the UNGA, on 27 September 2014.

International Olympic Day observed every year on 23 June


 The International Olympic Day is held on June 23 each year.
 The day is celebrated to encourage more people to participate in the Olympic Games and spread
awareness about the event and promote the Olympic Movement.
 It is based on the three pillars – “move”, “learn” and “discover”.
 Theme of this year is “Stay healthy, stay strong, stay active with the #OlympicDay workout on 23 June.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed every year on 26 June
 The United Nations recognized International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed
annually on 26 June.
 The theme of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2021 is “Share Facts On
Drugs, Save Lives”

National Statistics Day celebrated every year on 29 June


 National Statistics Day celebrated on June 29 every year since 2007 to popularize the use of Statistics in
everyday life and sensitize the public as to how Statistics helps in shaping and framing policies.
 The day marks the birth anniversary of Father of Indian Statistics, Prof. P C Mahalanobis, in recognition
of his invaluable contribution in establishing the National Statistical System.
 The theme of Statistics Day, 2021 is End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and
Promote Sustainable Agriculture (Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-2) of the UN.

China turns on world’s 2nd-biggest hydropower dam


 The Government of China officially turned on the first two generating units of the Baihetan Dam.
 It is the world’s second-biggest hydroelectric dam, to start generating energy.
 The Baihetan Dam is set up on the Jinsha River, in south-western China.

A new generation meteorological satellite was successfully launched by china


 China launched a new generation meteorological satellite which was named as Fengyun -4B into the
planned orbit.
 This satellite was aimed to be used for fields of weather analysis, environmental and disaster monitoring.
 Observation range of the satellite include Asia, central Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean regions.

World’s third-largest diamond found in Botswana


 The third-largest diamond in the world has been found in Botswana, South Africa.

 The place is also Africa’s largest producer of diamonds.
 The newly found diamond weighs a little less than the second-largest diamond Lesedi La Rona and the
largest Cullinan diamond.

UAE, Brazil, Albania, Gabon, Ghana elected to UNSC


 UN Security Council elected Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana, and UAE as non-permanent members for
the 2022-23 term.
 All Five countries, elected unopposed, will begin their term from 1 January 2022
 The UN Security Council comprises 15 members including five permanent veto-wielding members and
10 non-permanent members, who are elected for a two-year term by the General Assembly.

Israel will become the World’s First Mask-Free Country from June 15
 Israel will become the world’s first mask-free country in the Corona period.
 The rule of applying masks in closed places will end from June 15.
 This was announced by Israel’s Health Minister Yuli Edelstein.

El Salvador becomes first country to adopt bitcoin as legal tender


 El Salvador has become the first country in the world to grant legal tender status to bitcoin.
 The use of bitcoin as legal tender will become law in 90 days.
 El Salvador’s economy heavily relies on remittances and so those who are working abroad can send
money back home in bitcoins.
 The use of bitcoin will be totally optional.
 It will bring financial inclusion, investment, tourism, innovation and economic development to the
country.

Philippines included in FATF grey list


 Philippines has been included in the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
 FATF has released its grey list of jurisdictions that will be subjected to increased monitoring.
 In addition to the Philippines, Haiti, Malta, and South Sudan have also been added to the grey list.
 Now, these jurisdictions will be required to submit progress reports to the FATF thrice a year.
 The Philippines was removed from the blacklist of FATF in 2005. It was previously included in FATF’s
blacklist in 2000.

India elected as member of UN Economic and Social Council for 2022-24


 India has been elected as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
 It is one of the six main organs of the United Nations, for three-year terms of 2022-24.
 India was elected to the 54-member ECOSC, by the UNGA on June 7, 2021, in the Asia-Pacific States
category, along with Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Oman.

Raimona reserve forest was become the sixth National park of Assam.
 Raimona reserve forest in Kokrajhar district has been upgraded to sixth national park of Assam.
 The region of the forest comes under Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) across the border with Bhutan.
 Assam already has five National Parks in the State.
 This national park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, Elephant reserve, Project Tiger reserve
and a biosphere reserve in Assam, India.

Dihing Patkai is Assam’s 7th National Park
 Dehing-Patkai has been declared as the seventh national park of Assam.
 The five older National Parks in the State are Kaziranga, Manas, Nameri, Orang , Dibru-Saikhowa and
sixth national park is Raimona Reserve forest.
 Assam now has the third most National Parks after the 12 in Madhya Pradesh and nine in the Andaman
and Nicobar Islands.

India’s official Olympic theme song ‘Lakshya Tera Samne Hai’ released
 The “Official Olympic Theme Song” for the Indian contingent, was launched by Sports Minister Kiren
Rijiju, during an event organised by Indian Olympic Association (IOA)..
 The song titled “Lakshya Tera Samne Hai” has been composed and sung by Singer Mohit Chauhan, and
lyrics are penned by his wife Ms. Prathna Gahilote.

Centre inaugurates Asia’s longest and world’s fifth-longest High Speed Track
 Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Prakash Javadekar has inaugurated NATRAX- the
High-Speed Track (HST) in Indore.
 Which is the longest such track in Asia?
 NATRAX, developed in an area of 1000 acres of land, is a one-stop solution for all sorts of high-speed
performance tests for the widest categories of vehicles from 2 wheelers to heavy tractor-trailers.

WHO named Two COVID-19 Variants first identified in India as ‘Kappa’ and ‘Delta'?
 The UN health agency, World Health Organisation (WHO), has given easy-to-say labels to two variants
of the Covid-19, first found in India.
 The two variants are B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2.
 The B.1.617.1 variant of the Covid 19 has been named as ‘Kappa’ while the B1.617.2 variant is named
as ‘Delta.’
 The naming of these variants do not aim at replacing the existing scientific names of these #SARSCoV2
Variants of Concern (VOCs) & Interest (VOIs), but is aimed at helping the public discussion about
VOI/VOC.

IBF to be renamed as Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF)


 IBF has now been renamed the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF).
 The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) which is the apex body of broadcasters is expanding its
purview to cover digital streaming platforms.

Jhanda Satyagraha'' celebrated in Jabalpur, MP


 The anniversary of the 'Jhanda Satyagraha' was celebrated in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on 18 June
 It was on March 18, 1923 that the first Tricolour was hoisted in Jabalpur, marking the start of 'Jhanda
Satyagraha'.
 In 1923, the movement was primarily held in Jabalpur and Nagpur, but it also spread to other parts of the
country.
 Nationalist leaders such as Vallabhbhai Patel, C Rajagopalachari, Rajendra Prasad, and others organised
the movement, which attracted thousands of people from across the country to Nagpur and other parts of
the Central Provinces

Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan launched by Madhya Pradesh
 The Government of Madhya Pradesh has launched ‘Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan’ to make the
people of the state aware of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
 It translates to free from Corona with the help of the youth power campaign.
 Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while launching the programme said that about 10 lakh students
of the colleges of the state will play an important role in the eradication of Corona.
 In the 2nd phase of the Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan' about 8 lakh students of private colleges
will be given training.

Ramgarh Vishdhari wildlife sanctuary to be the fourth tiger reserve in Rajasthan


 The Ramgarh Vishdhari wildlife sanctuary received a nod from the National Tiger Conservation
Authority’s (NTCA) to become the 4th Tiger reserve of Rajasthan.
 This will be the 52nd Tiger Reserve of India.
 Other tiger reserves of Rajasthan are Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Sawai Madhopur, Sariska
Tiger Reserve (STR) in Alwar, and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR) in Kota
 The Global Tiger Day, celebrated on 29th July, is an annual event marked to raise awareness about tiger
conservation.

Women to be Head of family in Jal Jeevan Mission


 Rajasthan Government has approved the proposal to treat women as head in the household for drinking
water connections to be issued to rural families under Jal Jeevan Mission.
 Apart from this 50 percent of the members of the village water and sanitation committee will be women.
 Preamble to our Constitution starts with the lines “We the people of India”. Here ‘we’ refers collectively
to men, women and the third gender.
 The makers of our Constitution did not envision any special privileges to any gender, thereby ensuring
equality for one and all.
 As we come to celebrate the International Women’s Day on 8 March, it is time for us to celebrate the
achievements of Indian women in various fields.

Haryana State Government aims to develop Panchkula as “Economic Capital" of the State
 Chief Minister of Haryana informed that the government aims to develop Panchkula as the 'Economic
Capital' of the state.
 Panchkula is the first pre-planned city of Haryana and since 1972, when the city’s first action plan for its
urbanisation was prepared.

World’s first GM Rubber planted in Assam


 The world's first Genetically Modified (GM) rubber plant developed by Rubber Research Institute was
planted in Assam.
 The rubber plant is the first of its kind developed exclusively for this region, and is expected to grow
well under the climatic conditions of the mountainous northeastern region.

Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain becomes the first female pugilist form the state to qualify for Tokyo
Olympics 2020
 She is the first female pugilist form the state to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
 She would be seen fighting it out in the women’s 69 kg welterweight category at the 2020 Tokyo
Olympics.
 She is the first lady from Assam to represent India at the Olympics.

T.C Gupta appointed as Chief Commissioner of Haryana Right to Service Commission
 The Haryana Government has appointed T.C. Gupta as Chief Commissioner of Haryana Right to Service
Commission.
 The previous Chief Commissioner was S.C. Chaudhary.
 The Right to Service Commission was constituted in 2014.

India’s first International Maritime Cluster to come up at GIFT City


 Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) will set up the country’s first international maritime services cluster at
GIFT City
 The maritime cluster will be developed as a dedicated ecosystem comprising ports, shipping, logistics
services providers and government regulators, all present in the same geographic vicinity- GIFT City.
 GIFT City is India’s first operational smart city and international financial services

Tamil Nadu to set up Economic Advisory Council


 Newly-elected Tamil Nadu government has decided to constitute an “Economic advisory council to the
chief ministers.
 Advisory council will comprise of leading economic experts from across the world as its members.Its
members include:
 Nobel laureate Esther Duflo of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in USA,
 Former Reserve Bank of India governor, Raghuram Rajan,
 Former chief economic advisor to central government, Dr Arvind Subramanian,
 Development economist, Jean Dreze and
 Former Union finance secretary Dr S Narayan
 PMEAC is a non-constitutional, non-permanent and independent body which have been constituted to
provide economic advice to Government, specifically Prime Minister.

AWARDS AND SCHEMES

WHO honours Harsh Vardhan for tobacco control efforts


 The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has been awarded with the ‘WHO
Director-General Special Recognition Award’ for his accomplishments in the area of tobacco control.
 Dr Vardhan was awarded, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.
 His leadership was instrumental in the 2019 national legislation to ban E-cigarettes and heated tobacco
products
 In India, over 1.3 million deaths are attributable to tobacco use every year amounting to 3500 deaths per
day, imposing a lot of avoidable socio-economic burden.

David Diop wins International Booker Prize 2021


 David Diop has become the first French novelist to win the International Booker prize 2021.
 He has been choosen for his book 'At Night All Blood is Black'.
 Which is translated into English by Anna Moschovakis?

Indore and Surat Jointly Wins Smart Cities Award 2020; Uttar Pradesh Bags Best State Award
 India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 was released.
 The award was organised under Central Government’s Smart Cities Mission project, by the Ministry of
Housing and Urban Affairs.

 The Smart City awards were given across different themes, which are, Social Aspects, Governance,
Culture, Urban Environment, Sanitation, Economy, Built Environment, Water, Urban Mobility.
 Indore, Madhya Pradesh and Surat, Gujarat have jointly won the Best Smart Cities award 2020 for their
overall development.
 Uttar Pradesh has emerged as top performer among all Indian states.
 Among Union Territories, Chandigarh bagged the top award.

India Cricketers Mithali Raj And R Ashwin Recommended For Khel Ratna Award
 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided nominate the names of R Ashwin and
women's Test and ODI skipper Mithali Raj for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
 The board has also decided to recommend the names of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shikhar Dhawan
for the Arjuna Award.

Nitin Rakesh and Jerry Wind Wins International Business Book of the Year Award 2021
 The book titled ‘Transformation in Times of Crisis’, authored by Nitin Rakesh and Jerry Wind, has won
the prestigious International Business Book of the Year Award for 2021.
 The book is published by Notion Press.

Former Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja Awarded with CEU Open Society Prize 2021
 The former Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja has been honored with the prestigious Central European
University (CEU) Open Society Prize 202.
 The recognition is for her commitment to public health services.
 The prestigious international honour is given annually by Hungary-based CEU, to persons of exceptional
distinction who serve the ideals of an open society.

Indian Journalist P Sainath wins Japan’s Fukuoka Grand Prize for 2021
 Indian journalist and founder of PARI (People’s Archive of Rural India), Palagummi Sainath has been
awarded the Fukuoka Grand Prize for 2021.
 The award is given to individuals and organisations for their work in preserving Asian culture, by
Japan’s Fukuoka city and the Fukuoka City International Foundation.
 The Fukuoka Prize is given in three categories: Academic Prize, Culture Prize and the Grand Prize.
 Among these the Grand Prize is considered the biggest one. The last Indian to be awarded the prize was
A. R. Rahman (2016).

Ministry of Education launches NIPUN Bharat Programme


 Union Minister for Education, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has launched NIPUN Bharat
programme.
 The aim of NIPUN programme is that that every child in India gets foundational literacy and numeracy
(FLN) by the end of Grade 3, by 2026-27. (and not later than Grade V)
 NIPUN stands for National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy and
has been launched under the aegis of the centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra Shiksha.

Novak Djokovic wins 19th Grand Slam title in French Open final
 The star tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the 19th Grand Slam in the French Open Final.
 He is from Serbia.
 He has become the first tennis player to win all the four majors twice.

 In the French Open Final, the player defeated 22 years old Stefanos Tsitsipas.

T20 World Cup will be held in UAE, Oman


 The International Cricket Council has confirmed that this year's T20 World Cup will be played in the
United Arab Emirates and Oman.
 The tournament will run from October 17 to November 14.
 To be held at four venues - the Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi,
the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, just outside the capital, Muscat

India’s Sanjeet Kumar wins gold medal in Asian Boxing Championship


 India’s pugilist Sanjeet Kumar won a gold medal in the 91 kg weight category at the ASBC Asian
Boxing Championships.
 He is the second gold-medal winner in this edition for India after Pooja Rani.

New Zealand wins first ICC World Test Championship

 India held the 43rd rank on the Institute for Management Development (IMD)’s annual World

2020), Denmark, the Netherlands and Singapore.

According to UN Report India was fifth largest recipient of FDI in 2020


 As per the World Investment Report 2021 by the UN Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD), India was the fifth largest recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in the world
in 2020.
 The country received USD 64 billion FDI in 2020, which is an increase of 27 percent, over USD 51
billion inflows in 2019.
 The United States remained the largest recipient of FDI.
 China was the second largest recipient with USD 149 billion FDI.

 The NITI Aayog Vice-Chairperson Dr Rajiv Kumar released the third edition of the SDG India Index
and Dashboard 2020–21.
 The theme of SDG India Index and Dashboard 2020–21 is Partnerships in the Decade of Action
 According to report, the country’s overall SDG score has improved by 6 points, from 60 in 2019 to 66 in
2020-21.
 Top States in the index are Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka,
Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Maharashtra.
 Top fast moving States are Mizoram, Haryana and Uttarakhand.

 India has been ranked at 14th spot among 114 countries in the World Giving Index 2021, by the
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
 This rank is up from its 10-year global rank of 82.
 The World Giving Index ranking has been topped by Indonesia, followed by Kenya, Nigeria, Myanmar
and Australia in top five respectively.

 India has moved up two places to rank 135 among 163 countries on the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2021.

 Iceland has retained the top spot in the index as most peaceful country since 2008.
 Afghanistan is the least peaceful nation at 163.

 Bengaluru has been named as the most liveable city of India, in the Ease of Living Index 2020, released
by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE).
 The Ease of Living Index 2020 is part of the report titled State of India’s Environment 2021.
 Bengaluru is followed by Chennai, Shimla, Bhubaneshwar, and Mumbai, as the top five best cities
respectively.
 The Ease of Living Index 2020 is the second edition of the index, after the first one was launched in

 The exercise will be taking place in the Atlantic and Europe, and into the Black Sea region.

India successfully test fires indigenous subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay off Odisha coast
 The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the subsonic
cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’ on June 24, 2021.
 It is test-fired from an Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore.
 This was the eighth test flight of the missile.
 The first test flight of Nirbhay was held on 12 March 2013.
 Nirbhay is a long-range, all-weather, subsonic cruise missile indigenously designed and developed by
DRDO.

Ukraine and US Navy Co-hosts ‘Exercise Sea Breeze 2021’ in Black Sea
 The Exercise Sea Breeze 2021 (SB21), co-hosted by Ukraine Navy and the United States, began on June
28, 2021 in the Black Sea region.
 The annual multinational maritime exercise will continue till July 10, 2021.
 The exercise will involve sea, land, and air components, to enhance interoperability and capability
among participating nations.
 The Ex-SB21 will see the participation of largest number of nations.

(Rs 20,706 crore).

 This is the lifetime high of India’s foreign asset.
 With this, India has tied with Russia as the fourth largest reserve holder in the world. The forex reserve
of Russia is calculated to be $605.2 billion.

RBI approves re-appointment of GC Chaturvedi as part-time Chairman of ICICI Bank


 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the re-appointment of Girish Chandra Chaturvedi as the
part-time Chairman of ICICI Bank.
 He re-appoint for a period of three years with effect from July 1, 2021.

RBI imposes Rs 6 crore Penalty on Bank of India & PNB for Violation of Norms

India and Punjab National Bank for contravention of norms related to “Frauds Classification and
Reporting”.
