1. Introduction
Substation information system (SIS) is a web-based software application which
is useful for maintaining equipment details of station and to track details of
various types of works.
Important features of the application are
1) Data entry pages for equipment
2) Maintaining equipment failure/replacement history
3) Standard reports with fixed parameters based on requirement in various
formats like word, excel and pdf
4) Dynamic reports with variable parameters (user is allowed to choose
which parameters are required for the report) based on requirement in
excel formats
5) Graphical representation of data which is useful for analysis
6) Provision for viewing/uploading/downloading single line diagram in
formats like xl, jpeg, word, pdf

2. To add stations and Create Username and Password for
users [will be accessible only for division users]
• Login as TL&SS division user with the given username and password.
• Click on SIS menu on top left corner of the screen. A drop list appears
where you have to select Admin. Once clicked on Admin, the menu is
expanded. Click on Organization option as shown in image below
A page with name GENERAL appears, where you have to click on the View
organization elements.

Click on > icon of KPTCL to expand the data and click on > icon of your Zone,
again click on > icon of your circle. Once circle level expansion is done, you will
find the list of divisions. Click on the name of your division as shown below

After choosing create, click on Proceed button. Once clicked the following page
shows up
In this page, enter the details pertaining to the station. Enter the mandatory
fields marked with *
• In Name field, enter name of station.
• In Organization type select Station
• In Organization subtype select whether 400/220kV etc.
• Enter district, taluk, and other known details
While entering Station capacity click on edit pencil button and select the
capacities of the station as shown below

As you can see from above picture, station capacities selected are: 2 Nos. of
31.5MVa, 1 No. of 20MVA and 1 No. of 12.5MVA.
Click on Save button
After entering relevant details, click on Next in bottom right corner of that page.
Now you have to enter details pertaining to User
Enter the station maintenance AE /AEE details depending on its 66/110 station
or 220kV or above stations.
Username should be designation followed by station name in shortcut followed
by voltageclass. Limit characters to 10 while giving username and password.
Ex: 1) If hoody 220/11kV station, then enter username as aeehoody220
2)If hagarabommanahalli 220kV station, then aehbhalli66
Etc.
Enter password same as username. If username is aehoody66 , then password
is also aehoody66
TO NOTE: Please have a note of the username and password you are giving
and for which station, so the same needs to be shared to stations in your
jurisdiction.

For security role , select admin from dropdown as the user requires to update
station details.
Select designation as AE if 66/11kV station else AEE if 220/66 station
Select work role as Maintenance.
Other details like Mobile number,email ID are known can be entered here
After entering the details, click on add button so the same gets added to table
Until you save, the details will be available for delete. But once saved into
database, the details can only be edited.
After all updation of data, click on Save Button on top right corner to save all
the data entered in both the tabs.
By following above procedure , stations with one admin user can be created.
Note : Make sure to create only one ADMIN user per station who will be solely
responsible for updating the details of that particular station.

3.To add bay details of a station [will be accessible by station
admin user]
Click on menu, stations, select the station whose details need to be entered.

This page depicts standard representation of bays depending on voltage
classes.
Click on Add/Update button on top right corner to enter bay details as shown
in image below.

Select type of bay (Incoming Line Bay/Power transformer bay etc.) and enter
the details, click on add button so data gets added to table.
Like this you can add all the bays at once or required number of bays and click
on save button.
Please ensure to add details to table and then click on save button for saving
details into database.
Once data entered and saved, click on back button and you can see the added
bay details as below.
As you can see in above image, bay details added are shown. It might show
different colors depending on the status selected. Green indicates in-service,
red indicates faulty etc.
Also, can click on specific button of faulty, idle charged etc. to filter out the
respective bays.

4. To add equipment details of a station [will be accessible by
station admin user]
Select the equipment type, update its details and save it. Again, click on + icon
to add equipments.

Once any equipment is added, click on the edit symbol against that
equipment in the table to update the full details pertaining to that equipment.

Click on Next button, update all the details and finally click on save button.

Enter the details, if there are any core details to be added click on Add core
detail and update core details save, if another core details to be added again
click on core Add core detail, enter details and save. Now these details get
added to table as shown below
Once all details pertaining to R-Phase added, then below check on Duplicate
data to Y-Phase and check on Duplicate data to B-Phase so details of R-Phase
will be copied to Y-Phase and B-Phase. Click on next button, details would have
duplicated. Now change the required fields like Sl.Nos. etc in Y-Phase and B-
Phase.
Then click on Next, finally Summary tab will be displayed which shows
summary of data entered of all 3 phases as shown below.

After verifying the details , click on save button to save all the details entered.
Once saved, you will be back to page of adding equipments for selected bay.
Click on C&R panel tab and other tabs and update the data.

5.To add failure details of equipments [will be accessible by
station admin user]
To add failure details, select the equipment by clicking on bay of that
equipment and clicking on edit button of the added equipment if already
added, else create equipment as explained in above pages.
Once clicked on edit, page opens depending on equipment. In that, choose
status field as failed as shown below
Once failed is selected, Date of failure and reason of failure will be enabled,
kindly update the details.
Click on next button until last tab and finally save the data.
The same thing can be carried out for replacement/faulty etc. and updating
their corresponding details.

6.To view and update[will be accessible by station admin
user] history of equipments

As can be seen, the status would be replaced and you cannot edit it. Update
the details of the equipment that was replaced. Click on next enter all tab
details and finally verify the details in summary and click on Save button.
It gets added to table.
Like this history of a particular equipment can be added and saved.

7.To upload/download single line diagram
Once clicked, the following page opens where you can upload/download the
single line diagram document.
If Non-pdf format upload the document on first tab, else if PDF format, second
tab.
To download the uploaded document, click on third tab and download.

8.Reports/Graphs [Accessible by all]
Standard reports are preformatted reports where columns will all be defined.
Select the report and choose the corresponding filters.
The report can be generated in pdf format, or can be exported to excel and
word format also.

Sometimes columns of reports need to be selected dynamically, for the same
purpose Dynamic reports should be selected. The following page opens

below in the left column and already Selected parameters in the report will be
shown on right hand side.
If any parameter needs to be added, choose the parameters and click on
